I'd go with RJJ on this. Not a particularly good matchup for Leonard stylewise

Leonard fought a faded Marvin Hagler who struggled in his last fight. A prime Marvin Hagler would struggle against Roy Jones Jr.

Sugar Rays only notable opponent at middleweight was a faded Hagler and faded Hearns

You think faded versions of Hagler and HEarns, both controversial decisions were better then what Roy Jones faced? Not only that but far better?

Ring smarts and savvy was something Roy Jones had in abundance. So really it comes down to size, strength, speed and athleticism, and at 160, Roy had that over SRL in abundance.

my pick is Roy Jones Jr,Leonard wasnt a real middleweight at all,I also feel at 160 Roy without a doubt is the more faster and stronger fighter,it be a one sided fight in my opinion

Asero, don't expose yourself like this. It looks bad for Pac lol...

RJJ smacks him around, plays semi-pro hoops in between rounds, stops him whenever he wants to but in true RJJ fashion let's him hang around the whole 12 rounds because he doesn't really want to hurt him.

ummm... this is a fight that would make any fight fan who knows anything about boxing cringe because they don't want to see the great SRL humbled like that.

How the hell do you ever have the gall to post on a boxing msg board?

There are next to no similarities between Jones and Leonard. Leonard was a great fighter who took risks, fought the best, and defined himself by what he did, not what he might have done (as many of Jones' fans like to do). Kellerman's a berk who spouts his desires as if they're informed opinions.

I agree with the rest of your post, though.

Alot of fighters bigger and stronger and " skilled " than others . Doesnt mean they win . a sound defense is a start . Jones doesnt have a sound defense. He would be a bigger stronger guy with barely any defense agasint a dynamic puncher in Leoanrd? Toss up for me. And since Leoanrd does every thing better than Jones , I give Loenard the edge.

Size and strength means little to nothing in this case . And alot of cases inboxing in general.

B-hop cant beat Tarver because he's too big and strong?
Tito is a power punching machine. Feather fisted Winky cant beat him?
Cotto is just too strong for pac. Cotto will decapitate Pac?
De La Hoya is looking for a payday and will kill Pac in the process?

Youre trying to tell me Jones will win because he is bigger , stronger?

Im saying that boxing 101 indicates that Leonard does every thing in the ring better than Jones. Defense , punching power , awareness, toughness the list goes on and on.

Put them in the ring and I think the more technically sound fighter will win.

And jumping around the ring using speed isnt technical . Running styles can be broken down . Nothing crazy about this logic.

Jones had sickening power at 160/168 when he wanted to use it. Roy would knock Leonard down a few times in the bout. Roy wins this by UD.

Roy could probably end the fight if he really wanted to, but he'd have to much respect for Ray.

Leonard and Roy did spar and box once in 88 i think or something.
