It was a good weight for Jackson, he made title defenses there, and Tommy carried his power any weight he chose.

I agree it could go down that way, but like Manny Steward said, no one could outbox Tommy Hearns, so he has a fair shot of the k.o. or the decision.

Huh??? McCallum hits Jackson with Bombs ..Bombs!! and he didnt exactly go down... As hard as Tommy hit..Jackson is in a class by himself.

Simple physics..assuming that both will tag each other with 1 solid right.

Jackson - Very Hard punch / a bit stronger chin

Hearns - Hard punch / Shakey chin

    Id take Jackson.

I already said that as far as greatness go Hearns is miles better...If he had a chin..shoot hed be up there with SRR

Well, he still has the capabilities of beating Jackson's ass. You think Hearns would lose to Tito as well?[/QUOTE]

are you insinuating that Tito hits as hard as Julian? My answer is no!

Hearns didn't have the one punch power at 160 that Jackson did. No ****ing way. BUT, he was a much better boxer, and probably with the longer reach, definitely with the better jab. If he trades though, there is always the possiblity of getting caught. Jackson could still box, and wasn't some hopeless puncher who relied solely on his power. He was neck and neck with McClellan in the first fight up until the stoppage, and Gerrald could both box and punch without question. I think there is a chance of both men getting knocked out here. Jackson did have a questionable chin though obviously, so if i had to pick it would be Hearns, although in reality either guy could get KTFO in this one.

Duran was the smaller man though. Yes it was a beautiful punch, but Durans hands were well down and he was practically out on his feet when it was thrown. Jackson actually kept a fairly high guard and was tight and explosive in his punches, so there is no way I can see the same thing happening.

IMO You're pulling an Amsterdam here though in that you are exaggerating the skill difference to try and make a point. If Jackson went 5 rounds with Gerald (who is a natural big guy for the division and can hit with speed) and was still boxing with him and landing shots, I can't see a naturally smaller Hearns taking him out in two. If you watch Jackson fight he wasn't the worst defensively. He was always going to have trouble against an effective mover, but he was good at landing his shots, and always held a tight guard and kept his hands high. I am picking Hearns here also, but just not as clear cut as you have stated.

Keep in mind that Hearns could be sloppy at times defensively, especially when he thought he could knock someone out. Hearns would definitely run the risk of getting hit, and as far as chin goes I would say they were about equal. Either guy could potentially be knocked out.

Wow what a fight this would've been. This might've looked like Mc Clellan-Jackson I. What a real 50-50 fight. Both were big bombers with not the greatest chins. Tommy was the physically bigger guy but if Jackson got inside a few times and ripped tommy with his right hook look out. I don't think this fight sees the sixth round either way it goes. If Tommy can use his reach to keep Jackson on the outside he wins but if Jackson gets in for even a little while he wins. I think Mc Clellan had a better chin so that's why he won the war against Jackson but with Tommy it's not an advantage.
