Hearns started having durability problems as he climbed the weights. Beterbiev is the last guy that you want to have durability problems against.

Tommy not evasive enough too much of a warrior so he's taking some shots and beterbievs power is certainly enough to hurt him. I'd almost prefer SRLs chances against artur since he's more fleet footed but still just too big a weight disparity.

Beterbiev. His relentless pressure and offensive skills would enable him to find openings and once he is getting to Hearns' chin, Tommy isn't lasting long. Hearns though was a very hard puncher himself even in the LHW, and Beterbiev's whiskers aren't granite either, so Tommy would have had a puncher's chance against him.

Come on man, this must be a joke. Hearns beats Butturdiev 9.5 times out of 10.75.

If Tommy had followed the same career plan, he would have had 20 total fights at 40 years old, and never have fought anyone or moved in any divisions. Oh how boxing times have changed.

It depends which Hearns comes out. The Hitman who is the most exciting fighter I have ever seen would hurt Beterbiev cut him but would get knocked out in a thrilling fight. Now if the Hearns that comes out is the Motorcity Cobra then he outboxes Beterbiev and wins on points. We will find out whether Beterbiev has an iron chin.

Hearns only significant win at LHW was Virgil Hill (an extremely good win though), and Virgil wasn't a physical rough/tumble fighter. The very next fight (I think) was the rematch with the mauler Iran Barkley and his entire face got transformed. I don't think Hearns was built to be a LHW elite, not against someone who uses their size and physicality. Virgil tried to outbox him (which is impossible), Beterbiev would just try to break him.

Beterbiev by late tko win. I think Virgil Hill would beat Beterbiev though

I don’t believe Hearns lost at Light Heavyweight and beat a master boxer long reigning champion Virgil Hill.

The Barkley rematch was for the LHW belt he won against Virgil, it was either his very next fight or the one after that. I don't have boxrec access right now to confirm. And yes he did beat an absolute master boxer but that ain't how Beterbiev fights. Hearns had trouble with physical guys and Beterbiev is nothing but physical.

I'm not being bias, Hearns is in my top 10 favorites of all time

Please check because from memory I think it was for the Super Middleweight title. He did not have trouble with physical guys if anything the problem was he was sometimes to physical with his Hit Man persona because he never needed to lose a fight he could outbox everybody. Hit Man came to knock everybody out and he did like 90% + of the time but a few times he got caught whereas his other persona the Motorcity Cobra was unbeatable outboxing even master boxers like Benitez, Hill, Leonard etc. Sugar Ray realised he could not outbox Hearns so had to find his inner Joe Fraizer to win. Marvin forced a dog fight which he Hitman was only to willing to entertain.

Barkley Vs Hearns 2 was for the WBA light heavyweight title Hearns won from Hill. Barkley had just defeated Darrin Vanhorn for the Ibf Super middleweight title by 2nd round KO. Hearns lost it 7-5 or 8-4. That loss really bothered me at the time. Later i wanted Hearns to fight Bobby Czyze for the cruiser wt title, but Hearns looked offal against Freddy Delgado.

i may be wrong, but I think Tommy Hearns made his mark at welterweight 147 lbs. A better question would be him vs Crawford.

Once again proving how awesome Usyk is. And I still say Prime Kovalev at his best beats Beterbiev though.

People do understand that Beterbiev turns 39 in January?

And that he didn't even turn pro until he was 28.5 y/o, right?

And that due to injuries and disputes with his promoter he's only had 19 fights in over a decade now?

And even worse 9 of them were within his first two years as a pro

It's pretty amazing he has achieved all he has given his very late start in the pros, his age and inactivity
