Who wins at Heavyweight Michael or Leon Spinks?

It's a complex thing when comparing brothers, because they know each other so well. You have one who isn't going to take **** from the other, while the opposite may have difficulty going balls out against his own blood. The psychological factors are a tad too dense to be able to draw any serious conclusions.

If we were going to say to hell with the brother realationship and pretend that these two guys never saw each other in their lives, then I would hands down have to pick Michael. Even though Leon had every bit as much potential as his younger brother, the clear cut difference is that it was never developed. Michael's style was awkward and utilized a lot of savy as the fight went on. Not to mention, his punching power would have been plenty effective for a couple of guys fighting somewhere between 195-205 Lbs. As amateurs, these men were in the same league, but as professionals they are several levels apart.

 

Leon in his short prime was not as bad as some people make out..He actually had some pretty good wins, he just killed his career with his out of the ring shenanigans.

M Spinks is just about better in everyway by some margin...Even with his leg causing him a bit of trouble by the time he reached heavyweight I can see him winning pretty handily in the end.

 

Can Michael KO Leon or get his respect?

If he doesn't, I wouldn't be surprised if Leon outhustles him to a decision.

Mike Developed into a more skilled fighter....Leon's best was beating Ali with a 6-0-1 record, he was KO'd by Coetzee in 1 then by Holmes 2 years later in 3....Mike had some solid wins Cooney and 2 over Holmes....Mike was a better fighter

 

I fancy Michael in this match-up. He'd stop his bro in the mid-late rounds.

 

Michael, I think, would take this.

 

Leon wasn't just a "crude swarmer" as some would make out either. Against Ali he incorporated good use of the jab and good boxing skills into his attack.

In addition to all his outside-the-ring problems, Leon's career was also hampered because he really was a natural cruiserweight at a time when the division was making the transition to the "215 and heavier" era. Against fighters his own size (as Michael would've been) he would've been much better and more successful IMO.

Beating Ali was the worst thing to happen to Leon. He was inexperienced and paid for it by fighting fighters who were too much for him to handle at that point in his career. He could have been good had he taken a slower path to the title and earned his stripes.

 

i heard as kids the sparred all the time and leon won

i think leon would win as he would know his brothers style and could punish him

i have a little brother and i know his style much more than he knows mine
