I disagree, Haye is made for Peter. Haye likes to mix it up a bit and kinda use his size and power to manipulate the fight, something he would not be able to do against the more physically imposing Samuel Peter. Haye's only chance in this fight would be to take a page out of Wlads book, jab and grab all night, pick your shots wisely, stay the hell off the ropes, and under no circumstance get into a slugfest with Peter. I just see Haye making alot of mistakes in this match, leaving himself wide open to be countered, getting cute with Peter, and making the mistake of trying to go toe to toe with Samuel, which would ultimately be the demise of Haye in this match.
Punisher33 I see all your points and you know your craft, I really enjoy reading your posts and you are a big contribute to Peter fans on this site with your knowledge. But I personally feel that Hayes chin is somewhat underrated and unproven at 220+, I feel like his natural weight right now is at about 218-221lbs and that cutting weight easily could've been a factor for his shaky history. We have guys like Jones and Byrd to prove my point, and whilst this is an assumption, I think we all have to wait and see how well he takes a heavyweights punch. Haye has something to prove, and Peter is progressing as we speak, but his fighting weight and sloppy routines could lead to a demise against the much fitter and technically more adapt David Haye. But like you said, Haye would have to put on a technically brilliant show to succeed against the much stronger Samuel Peter, and brawling with such a disadvantage would be fatal, no doubt about it. Heres hoping that this fight will happend, it would spark interest in all the Brits and would be a huge fight even in the United States. And we know from experience that these two guys is not really shy about mixing it up, so for the general fans and hardcore fans alike this is a dream bout :happy
here's another question, can haye move and box for 12 rounds with that new 220 pound frame? that extra weight can certainly affect one's stamina, not to mention the clinching/leaning from a 250 pound man can take quite a bit out of you. going off his previous fights, Haye looks like more of a slugger than boxer. He's gonna have to change that in order to enjoy sustained success. that chin is a huge liability.
well if that's the truth, then it's a valid excuse. His balance could have certainly suffered but he was badly hurt in that 3rd round. Nevertheless, he still has an excellent chin and that's why he always has a chance in any fight. this is the problem. one guy has a soft chin and the other has an excellent chin. both have good power and like to slug it out. advantage peter.
This is a fight that will be made and it will be very interesting. I'm rooting for Haye as he goes up to the heavies but he has already been dropped and badly hurt multiple times against fighters that are much smaller and pack much less of a punch than the top heavyweights. But with Haye's power and speed he will be competitive with anyone and will certainly KO some decent heavyweights.
Thanks for your kind words Mr. Magic, there much appreciated. You have also made valid points in your assessment of Samuel, especially regarding his weight, which scares me the most about Peter. Everytime I see him come in at 250 or more I shake my head, he's clearly less mobile and seems to be lacking in the stamina department by the middle to late rounds. I cant see why he dont come in at around 240, the power will still be there, and everything else will be better as well. Haye is still a question mark in my book, his chin is very suspect, one could say the weight draining had an effect on him at Cruiser, but we must also factor in that Heavyweights generally hit quite a bit harder than Cruisers, which Haye will soon find out. If Haye improves his guard and doesnt try going toe to toe with Peter, he stands a pretty good chance of beating him, the jab and grab technique can win him the match, but given Hayes past history I dont see him doing that, he will more and likely be drawn into a slugfest with Samuel which will end with Haye knocked out on the canvas, especially if Peter gets him on the ropes and shoots a overhand right over Haye's low guard, it's lights out.
Peter catches him with a right hand that knocks that stupid British accent right out his mouth. . . . from that moment on Haye speaks fluent ebonics.
What do you see in peter that makes you think he is so good? I have been a boxn fan since i saw tyson destro spinks when i was like 8. I have also been studying wushu for some time now. I just seto many flaws in peter. To begin his footwork is terrible. Everytime he throws a punch he drops his guard. He does not have a good jab of understand combination punchn or counterpunchn. The eardrum stuff is bs. Gatti fought 5 rounds with a broken hand. I doubt he had a ruptured eardrum anyway. Also he a bit of a cheat. While i have been practicing the wushu style of have learned alot. Being on balance is critical and peter is always off balance. I have been shown techniques to attack an opponent on the back of the neck and head. Peter could kill or mam someone with those ilegal punchs.I was taught tyo only use those attacks in a life threating situation. I think haye is alot of hype. However, he could beat peter.
