According to George Peterson, Paul WilliamsÂ’ trainer, "These guys are afraid of Paul, even the middleweights..."

So, when a proposed match at middleweight between WBC/WBO/The Ring Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik and WBO Welterweight Champion Paul Williams fell through, who is at fault for it falling apart? Is Kelly Pavlik "afraid" or "ducking" Paul Williams? Are they even on the same level? Who would have won this match up and how do you see it going down?

Pavlik by KO. Margarito was able to hurt williams plenty with the straight right hand. A bigger, better, harder puncher in Pavlik would put him to sleep.

So glad this fight wasn't made. Williams wins at WW because of his freakish height and reach advantage. His skills certainly are not above those of the other top WWs. At MW he's just another guy. Pavlik by decapitation.

Pavlik perhaps more easly than might seem the case and taking in to account Williams physical attributes .At welterweight Williams is argubly the best around period .Certainly a major problem for Margarito as their first fight demonstrated and even bearing in mind the Defeat by Quintana. However that defeat despite the redemption of the rematch does make me question the level of hype and empty verbosity coming from Williams in regards to his middleweight prospects .Outboxed and lethargic against Quintana the first time around .If Williams did that against Pavlik you would be needing an ambulance on stand by.

Williams has actually been a pretty active fighter throughout his career. His only year of low activity was 2007, and that wasn't his fault.

Paul is no stupid fighter. He knows he will rightfully be the heavy underdog. But that's not the point. He wants to fight the best, and he is not scared to go up in weight to do it. Especially since he can't even PAY A MOTHA****A $4M to come and try to get his belt back.

The sport of boxing needs more fighters with Williams' attitude, who doesn't make excuses after losing, and will fight anyone who is put in front of him.

Unless Williams somehow someway can bring his power up somewhere close to Pavlik's power, he gets KO'd. Pavlik has heavyweight power man, Williams would have to gain alot of power in training camp to win this fight. And even if gains that power, is he gonna be able to take all those power shots from Pavlik? He'll have to spar against some heavyweights just to try to get a feeling of what Pavlik is gonna hit him with.

If I recall correctly from the Countdown prior to Cotto-Margarito, one of the analysts said that Margo's trainer has the philosophy is that during training camp, I take you to hell so that in the fight, Margo can give his opponent hell. If this was Williams training, hell would just kill him outright. Plus, even if he did make it, Pavlik would finish off what would be left off him from training camp. Not even close, Pavlik wins.

Yeah, Pavlik would hurt the dude. Williams brings everything but power and resistance to power.
