And I mean real Tua, not forum Tua.

    Battle of big punching contenders.

It depends on Tua. Tua under 220 would have both the speed and power to probably beat Baer, but if Tua comes in over 225+ Baer beats him easily.

Extremely close call but I think I favor the one who didn't get stopped by Gunnar Barlund, ever so slightly.

Forum Buddy Baer is becoming the new forum Primo Carnera!

You're being serious? Buddy Baer easily beats the David Tua who fought Ike Ibeabuchi?

I like Ike as much as the next person, but Baer was way more experienced than Ike and beat better fighters than the version of Tua that showed up against Ike.

Tua’s performance against Ike is highly overrated on this forum, since if anything Tua underperformed. Tua came in too heavy and dropped a very wide decision against Ike. If Tua would’ve came in shape he most likely would’ve beaten Ike, but unfortunately for Tua he rarely showed up in top condition and always underperformed whenever it mattered.

I think David's left hook and iron chin would be enough to beat buddy by t.k.o. inside of 4 rounds

Why? Or at least why in the light of this thread? Tua has been the near unanimous pick, and only once with a stipulation did someone give Baer the edge. Or are you on the Baer bandwagon and irritated by the elitist modernists all of a sudden?

Tony Galento had a good chin and left hook, similar build to Tua too.

Fascinates me. I feel like there might be interesting lessons about human psychology and cognition to be learned here.

Tony Galento was a fat slob with little or no boxing skill. David Tua was a strong, skilled boxer who had been an elite amateur before beginning his pro career. Hopefully you were joking, if not...
