To jump weights like this you have need either of 3 things. As you say technically very good. Be be blessed with athletic gifts or punch extremely hard.

I don't even think Mikey will hit 147 come weigh in.

Mikey hydrates to around 143ib on fight night ordinarily. The fight is not till March and he might add a few ib’s of timber before then.

I’m wondering if Garcia is banking on a few variables to even Spence’s natural advantages. He’s very big for the weight and at 29 it only gets more difficult. Added to that it is the IBF so he can’t hydrate by more than 10ib. Any difficulties with the weight will be exposed by Garcia who will jab to the body.

Spence stops Mickey. I'd be quite surprised if Garcia pulls it off, even if it's by controversial decision.

    Spence via TKO.

I’m not a Garcia fan. He stepped up, and fair play to him for doing so, but it’s a cash-out & his resume is a joke.

Spence should be ashamed. He’s a genuine LMW/MW.

The size difference looked massive at the face-off. It looked like a middleweight against a lightweight.

There are the odd exceptions (eg Pacquaio - De La Hoya), but generally when it looks a bit of a mismatch at the pressers it tends to hold true in the fight itself.

If you're talking about two similarly skilled guys in their prime, it's difficult to see past the bigger guy.

whats your rationale for this assertion? fighters who blow up between fights cannot take bodyshots? any way of proving this theory... not saying I disagree particularly, just that I don't know one way or another if this is true

How’s it a cash out...he’s a 4 division world champ who’s testing himself to see how far he can go. The lad is class, he’s proven himself in a few weight divisions. In comparison to Spence (whom I think will prove to be class) i think people (including myself) have hyped him up before he’s really achieved big things in the sport. Arguably, he has only 2 significant wins on his record...Kell Brook who was killing himself to get down to 147, and he beat up a ‘seen better days’ Peterson. What’s his other big wins on his record?

I appreciate this opinion won’t be shared by others and boxing politics can get in the way but there’s Porter, Crawford, Thurman, Pac and several others who he could be testing himself to cement his position as number 1 welterweight...yet he’s choosing to fight someone who’s coming up from 2 divisions below.

Nothing scientific at all mate. Its just a feeling. But i find it hard to believe theres no negative impact on the human body fluctuating up and down in weight, particularly in vulnerable areas which are open to body shots, especially from pro boxers who hand it heavy blows to those areas. As an example, imagine an apple. Ripe and green (or red, whatevers your thing!) and hard. You press it with your fingers and its very difficult to dent. Now if you leave the apple sitting around for a couple of days so it gets a bit softer, try pressing it again and there is a lot more give in it and you can actually make an impact. The skin of the apple is the same, but the core underneath has lost its tensile strength. In humans, the body can learn and adapt of course, but fluctuations like that must have repercussions in situations like prize fighting where margins are tiny.

Then again, im almost certainly talking cack!
