he doesn't need to. Froch will punch THROUGH/AROUND that guard. one of the very few things he does well.
Abraham doesnt do FOTYs. He will have his guard up for 90% of the fight - which is unlikely to produce FOTY material. Anyway - he is an explosive puncher. But Froch on the other hand has an iron chin and is very physically strong (if not as explosive). I think this will be a great fight. I think Kessler would outbox Abraham in a one-sided fight (with scary moments.. because AA will try), but KOing Kessler is just going to be very difficult. KOing Carl seems easier in a very because he moves slower, but it still seems very difficult because he can really take a punch and clears up very fast.
Problem here is who comes forward? It is do or die for Froch so that might help the situation but his style isn't fit for Abraham. You need upper cuts. 1-2 come in on 3 with uppercut and push while you turn.
Froch does not have an iron chin. Floored by Taylor, hurt badly by Dirrell and hurt by Kessler. He has chicken legs, and Abraham has significantly superior chin.
1. No, he's not the a fighter who produces a fight of the year candidate, but he is able to produce a KTFO of the year. 2. Froch is more active, but more explosive is Abraham. His punches are faster and have more pop. If Abraham was able to tag Dirrell (although not flush), he'll be able to do this with Froch as well. 3. Froch's chin is very good, but not excellent. Even if it would be, AA is the hardest puncher in the tournament and will be able to hurt Froch. 4. Froch's reach advantage: He has a massive reach advantage and that, together with his activity, will make the fight difficult for Abraham at times. However, AA has dealt with tall, active fighters before and the best of them was Dirrell (incredibly strong performance against Abe). Froch is not Dirrell. He isn't capable of doing to AA what Dirrell did. 5. Mental attitude / will: Froch and AA are on the same level. Froch is very confident and believes in himself being a fighter. The same with Abraham. He won't give up a fight until it is over. He's gone to a world of pain in the first Miranda fight and won't be mentally affected by cuts or pressure (and Froch will try). The fight will be an exciting one and both will have their moments. In the end Froch won't be able to absorb all of AA's bombs. He can't move out of the danger zone like Dirrel did. AA by KTFO (no clue when it will happen, but it will happen).
The only way Abraham can win this is via KO, he will lose all rounds on the scorecards. Froch should just make sure he doesn't let himself get backed up against the ropes like he usually does. Otherwise he can easily outbox Abraham from the outside and simply lean back and move his chin out of the danger zone.
I can see Froch taking a decision over AA based on work rate. However, because Froch tends to lead with his chin, I think AA catches him at some point.
AA by KO. He'll eventually close the distance and land more and more on Frochy, then he'll see Froch plastered.
The hell he can! I think your under the impression that Froch has the reflexes of Dirrell. Hate to break it to ya, but he doesnt.
I have no idea after yesterday. Previously I thought Abraham has more chance, but Froch could handle very well a skilled and quick fighter like Kessler. Abraham is slower, less accurate and has weaker chin than Kessler IMO, which makes this fight unpredictable. Since it is in Nottingham, I tend to slightly favour Froch in a very close and controversial decision, but anything can happen.
After last nights performance I actually rate Froch's chances sightly higher. His chin was absolute granite. Also he kept busy, was quicker than I remembered and also judged range well. Against Abraham he should be able to get his shots off and keep out of rang of AA's own bombs. Touch wood.
