let's be serious, Bernard is in my top 5 middleweights ever!, but he looked terrible against a shopworn Roy Jones. Pascal somewhat mirrors roy's abilities, using an elusive/aggressive style to get the job done. can bernard shock the boxing world again by unseating a top young gunner in what appears to be his prime? Is Jean's "invasion of america" going to be halted by one of it' top generals? or has Jean's attack come just in time? lastly, do you even give a shart?
BHop is still a top 4 LHW. the #1 LHW vs the #4 LHW (you could say anywhere from #2 to #4 for BHop) Of course I care.
Hell yes I care. I'd be front and centre for that one. Huge win for Hopkins if he could pull it off. Torch passed if not. Must see fight.
I think Hopkins will take this if he can get into the right mood. He really wanted the fight with Haye and you could hear on him that he wanted to prove himself against Haye like he did with Pavlik. Can he find the right mentality, I have no doubt that he can outbox Pascal. It'll be a good fight.
The styles make for a truly abysmal, sloppy, horrible fight. From that perspective, I don't care. I also see Hopkins winning and I'm tired of him being around now. I'm sick of these awful fights he's in, where he inevitably ends up exploiting young boxers weaknesses, turning the fight into an ugly mess, to spoil his way into a fight which suits him. Credit to him, because he is smart. I just don't want to see it any more. Pascal/Cloud or Pascal/Cleverly would be great fun.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Pascal will win. However, until they bring Hops to the ring in a wheel chair, I won't bet against him. The ******* pulls off a win everytime he is not suppose to!
I will bet big on Pascal especially if he comes out an underdog. Also, I think Pascal is getting short-changed by boxing fans. They all say "If Hopkins can get up for it, he will win." Which basically means that if Pascal wins, he gets no credit. What if Hopkins can get up for it, and Pascal beats him? Why is noone taking that outcome into consideration.
yeah, and I know this is bad logic, the whole fighter A beats fighter B thing, but it's been done before. Jermain Taylor beat Hopkins when he was up for it. pascal's at least close to J.T's skill level for better or for worse, so why isn't it being considered? good question
Hopkins thrives upon when hes the underdog. Never bet againt that man This fight greatly interests me, Pascal can show and prove hes the don at LHW, and Hopkins can turn back the clock and gain mad respect if he wins. That said, it could be a completely horrible fight. Im hoping it wont be
Shoulder roll, shoulder roll, spoiling pascal's somewhat sloppy style. i agree with jack, this will be one ugly fight, where pascal cannot connect, and Bhop counters his way point by point to a sd, in a very dull match. also agree with jack - bhop gets credit where it's due - one smart dude. incredible defense. But yes i give a **** and i will DEFinitely watch this one! Go Pascal!!
Good point mate. Sadly this probably IS a lose/lose situation for Pascal. Last we saw Hopkins was against Jones, and we all know how bad he looked there.. So yeah there's a good chance that if he wins, it'll be dismissed as a win over an almost 46 year old geezer.
I care because the legit title and immediate future of the Light-Heavy division is at stake. If Pascal wins then we can look forward to a lot of good fights between a young, exciting champion and young, exciting challengers. Pascal against Dawson, Cloud, Shumenov, Froch, Bute, etc would all be well worth watching. If Hopkins wins, we can look forward to him holding the division hostage for the next year while he decides his next move. I think it's safe to say he won't be taking on all the best young talent the division has to offer - he'll hang on and wait for a big pay-day in a relatively low-risk fight. I've got nothing against B-Hop, the man is a legend, but I think it would be terrible if he were to pull this off.
