This garbage about Wlad's style being all wrong for Povetkin is garbage. Povetikn is going to test Wlad's stamina by throwing seventy puches per round. Alex willb e the best man Wlad has ever fought. Either man can win. I wish both fighters well- hell- I hope its a series. I will pick Pvetkin because I think it is very possible and no one else is.
Povetkin is a very good skilled boxer but at this time he did not make the step from Amateur to become a professional boxer. His style is amateurish. Wlad will take him out in less than 8 rounds.
It is amateurish to throw so much punches without connecting the opponent. Look at the Chambers fight, Povetin throws 929 punches with only 201 landed. And these 201 did not make great damage by Chambers. Chambers sparred against Wlad and he was very often knocked down. Wladimir will not allow Povetkin throwing seventy punches per round. Emanuel Steward will make the game plan and Wlad will tire Povetkin before taking him out. Povetkins stamina is not that great because he never boxed against a puncher with Wlad experience.
I think you guys are basing too much on the Chambers fight. Povetkin claims that he was ill, and I take that at face value for the moment. The man has a higher knock out ratio than Sam Peter, and has faced many good chins and defenses. He's hurting people. He stopped Byrd. He make Sykes quit. Big cat attests to the fact that he was hurting Ahunanya, who has a really great chin. He didn't stop Donald, but he made him run and loose every round. Same story with Chambers: the man was getting hurt badly enough that he quit trying to win. He stopped Bango, who has yet to get in the ring again, and he blew out David Bostice- ususally very stable. Again, it is this narrative that has developed that just isn't true. He is not a puncher in the same sense as Tyson, but he is certainly comparable to Holyfield or Joe Frazier. He is not amatuerish, his punches are not negligible. And I say that he is going to surprise the hell out of Wlad.
BYRD?:huh Wlad hater amaze me. Wlad beats Byrd 2 times :deal and I mean BEATS Byrd and he gets no credit from the haters. Now you have the balls to bring up Povetkin beating Byrd. Amazing! :rofl
You didn't follow the thread. I am no Wlad hater. I am in fact very impressed by the way he has bounced back. Both his wins over Byrd, Peter, Ibragamov, and his revenge fight with Brewster are good legacy fights in my eyes. He has unified belts, avenged defeats, dealt with good punchers, dealt with Soutpaws, met all of his mandatories, fought good optinals (Brock) and done everything esle he could do. I stated clearly that I liek both fighters and hope it becomes a good series. But I am picking Povetkin THIS TIME because I am betting that the guys talking to Wlad are echoing you guys, and vastly underestimating Povetkin. Wlad is clearly the harder puncher- my point is only that Alex is not as feather fisted as ESB seems to think. And yes, Byrd proves that.
Well I am one of those guys that talks to Wlad and can tell you he never ever underestimates his opponent. Wlad takes all challengers very seriously and Povetkin is no exception
I hope you are right, and go ahead and let him know, because Povetkin is going to be the very best man he has ever faced, and will test his stamina by throwing seventy punches a round, with good punching to the body.
Actually you sound like Wlad. He said almost the exact same things you just said....good job :good I promise you. Wlad will be ready. He always is
Well then, may the better man win. These are two dedicated atheletes and fine sportsmen. In a way, I hope even if Wladdy takes this one, Povetkin can bounce back, because as we all know, the easiest way for two fighters to be recognized as great is to have a great series with each other.
Thats 1 thing going for povetkin's career. He only has 16 fights. He can bounce back from a loss to Wlad no problem
Povetkin does not impress me. He's still green and after watching that Chambers fight I give him very little chance against Wlad.
