 But, he got up every time to try and go back to work. Unlike this one fella... And here I'd thought you'd turned over a new leaf. :bart And under thine leaf was more shitty leaf. :bart This content is protected
I disagree with this. For who wins, I would put my money on Liston. Frazier at his peak was awesome, awesome but he's got the stylistic disadvantage here. Short swarmers have their work cut out for them against Liston.
I'll take smokin Joe, he would go to hell and back though as Liston is no joke.. I just think over the course of the fight Joe's pressure and desire not to mention his wild hook would break Sonny down.. As long as Joe survives his notorious habit of starting slow, or at least survives it anyway.. Frazier TKO13
Liston is a bad match up for Frazier, he's as close to Foreman as any HW champ other than maybe Bowe. He's not quite as intense as Foreman, but technically and defensively better. Even if Frazier get's out the early rounds Liston keeps bashing him up with the jab and right and has a hook and uppercut to match him on the inside. He's strong enough and hits hard enough to keep Frazier backed up too Liston KO - I'm shocked so many are picking Frazier, maybe a touch of sentimentality kicking in though
Liston very well may beat Frazier. I thought the thread was H2H against all HWs? In that case, I'm going to go with the guy that has skill and the mentality to die on his shield. Not a guy with a track record of packing it in when the going gets tough. I don't get how that gets so overlooked in H2H with ATG HWs pitted against each other. A lot of these types of fights will be tough and grueling. Sorry but that's going to naturally invoke a character questioning for Liston. Unless you think Liston just blows out almost every ATG he faces he's going to have to overcome obstacles or at least show some sort of grit he never displayed in a long fight. Obviously I'm using superlatives, but Liston fans tend to want to believe that his quit jobs were flukes or aberrations. This may be the case. It could have been the time of his life, and Ali that provoked this sort of cowardly response. For those that believe he's some top 3 H2H HW force, they're required to believe he's as tough and rough as his image of invincibility prior to the Ali bouts. An image that shattered when a HW force decided to stay on his stool.
Agree with you here. I think Liston KOs the Joe of 73 in about 4 or 5 rounds, not as quick as George did. The Joe of 68-FOTC stops Sonny inside 10 rounds. Much harder to hit and faster than people give him credit for.
People always talk about the difference between 86 Tyson compared to 90 Tyson....Whereas Joe seems to be categorized as 1973 anytime his name comes up...For me 68-69 Frazier is superior to FOTC Frazier as well.
