Both guys are same/similar physical/athletic attributes, and intangibles: speed, power, stamina, chin, experience. . .

Which one prevails most of the time? Longer arms will generate more leverage, and power on straight punches from the outside, and shorter arms will enable hooks to be turned over quicker on the inside. .

Could you guys cite me some examples from history?

I know you got Ali/Frazier. . . I would say Hearns/Hagler, but Hearns threw the damn jab, and "fighting off the back foot" out the damn window! ANd we saw Hagler's shorter arms, and more squat, compact frame prevailed. . Not to mention, well, it's HAGLER!

Then you got Sugar Ray Leonard/Hagler. . .

Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam vs. Avtandil Khurtsidze (this is a GEM!) It's on youtube, so I suggest you guys watching it if you haven't seen it!

LOL @ thinking boxing is just fighting off the jab off the back foot from distance. . .

THis is the SWEET SCIENCE. . . This science can be applied from any distance. . .

Outside. No matter how good you are at close range, it's simply safer down the line to be a little farther.

Yes, but all things being equal the guy who can keep the fight on the outside is going to win. The sport is hit and don't get hit. A sligghtly less talented/skilled boxer can win by keeping the fight on the outside against a more talented/skilled inside boxer.
You can go a long way fighting off the jab for the above reason. Plus the jab sets up all the other punches.

Agree, but boxing is not just fighting off the back foot. . . Also, there are plenty of inside dominant guys who utilize BRILLIANT double jabs to not only close the distance, but set up vicious hooks to the body. . .

It all comes down to who can apply their game the best. . . If a guy can weave under a jab, and get his head in the other guys chest, he's in trouble. . .

That's why usually the best boxers are always able to fight on both the outside, and inside. . .

Outside fighter tends to be better so it's not fair. Boxer-mover versus pressure fighter is the quintessential 50/50 type fight. There's no real stylistic edge when both fighters are of equal quality.

  13. Well, let us analize this.

First lets see the top 3 Pound for Pound boxers of All Time

    1 Sugar Ray Robinson
    2 Ali
    3 Mayweather Jr

Fact - All three are outside fighters.
Fact - All three are black
Fact - All three are American

    Does that answer your question?

you need an education. boxing is about hitting opponents and not being hit in return. the nature and range of the swarmer means they'll generally take more punishment even if they're skilled. ever wonder why swarmers have the shortest careers?

it's also easier for an outside fighter to fight inside against a good in fighter than it is vice-versa

    boxer all the way
