Yes, but all things being equal the guy who can keep the fight on the outside is going to win. The sport is hit and don't get hit. A sligghtly less talented/skilled boxer can win by keeping the fight on the outside against a more talented/skilled inside boxer.
You can go a long way fighting off the jab for the above reason. Plus the jab sets up all the other punches.

 

Outside fighter tends to be better so it's not fair. Boxer-mover versus pressure fighter is the quintessential 50/50 type fight. There's no real stylistic edge when both fighters are of equal quality.

you need an education. boxing is about hitting opponents and not being hit in return. the nature and range of the swarmer means they'll generally take more punishment even if they're skilled. ever wonder why swarmers have the shortest careers?
