While I understand Hagler to be the favorite you simply can’t count Roy Jones Jr. out. The man was other-worldly and possessed the speed and reflexes to give anyone fits.

Hard to rule out RJJ there. Insane speed, very good power...

I voted RJJ. But respect Hagler, who is my on favorite fighter of all time list with Sanchez, Arguello. Golovkin would definety be a force in this tournement. To bad it's only fantasy. Imagine how much people would pay to see this tounement?

Yeah. I think Toney would beat GGG too. I see James slipping GGG's slow punches and countering him all night, not to mention that lights out had iron chin. When Gennady cant KO his opponent and because he gets hit a lot, he loses some rounds resulting in having very close fights like in Canelo 2, Derevyachenko and Jacobs.

The final would be Hagler v RJJ with Roy prevailing on points

While I wouldn't rule him out, watch Roy's fight with Hopkins at 160. He was getting the worst of it later in the fight and I'd like to have seen this scheduled for 15. I think Marvin at his peak would have come after Roy at some point and Roy's defense was quickness , athletic ability and reflexes. Pressure can nullify those and rounds 13,14,and 15 is a long time with Hagler.

I’d go with Marvin…. If guys like Mugabi and Hearns couldn’t knock him out I don’t think the other guys mentioned will either. Hell Mugabi and Hearns didn’t even rock him, I don’t think anyone did.

Golovkin, Hagler or RJJ for me.

Jones has the freak speed and athleticism; only thing that bugs me is his chin.

GGG and Hagler are quite similar in many ways. They both are technically sound and heavy handed boxer-punchers that have steel chins. Hagler might be a bit more versatile in that he could switch hit and was faster than GGG. Golovkin for my money hits harder and has the better jab.

I love both these guys but I'll have to make one observation that might make me lean towards Golovkin: they aren't actually the same size. Hagler had a same-day weigh in whereas Golovkin gets another day to rehydrate. If we are talking Hagler's weigh in rules for the fight, then I favour him. If we are talking Golovkin's, then I think I go with him.

Hagler wins this with RJJ his biggest threat followed by Monzon (unexplainably not on the list) then GGG.
Benn is dangerous to anyone and could cause a shock while Eubank Sr would also be a real handful for everyone.

Sugar Ray Leaonard and Joe Calzaghi should be there as well and either of them are capable of winning the whole thing!

GGG seems to eat punishment, do you think he could walk through it and get to Hagler?

I'm surprised Toney hasn't had more votes, the man was an animal.

That's a good point, as the GGG in a fight isn't 160 pounds.

I did think about Sugar Ray, and Hearns, among others.

As I said though, it was who I felt would be the best match ups and who were my favourites.

Plus, some of the guys I considered, who campaigned at 160, were seen more as welterweights who moved up rather than full blown middleweights...if you see what I mean?

A bit like a Spence jnr moving up to 160 versus a GGG who has always been there...if you see what I mean?
