Pavlik would batter Williams. Williams wouldn't have the same physical advantages against Pavlik that he has enjoyed at welterweight.

The same could be said for Pavlik, who would be giving up his usual height and reach advantage when he fights Williams.

I've liked the idea of this fight since the Quintana rematch. Welterweights have gone up to middle in the past with some success and I think Williams could too. Right now I think Pavlik is a clear favorite but give Williams a couple fights against some decent middleweights and then it becomes interesting. Pavlik seems to be tied up to Rubio and probably Abraham so a Williams fight couldn't happen until late 09 or 2010. Let Williams get in the ring with the likes of Castiello or Rubio even and let him get acclimated to 160 and this is a big fight in a years time. Pavlik would still be the favorite but its a good fight.

Pavlik stops him, PW is a great fighter, but most effective at 147 and 154.. All the Physical advantages that he normally has against fighters would be non-existent in a match vs Pavlik... Paul Williams also has shown that he is not exactly hard to hit... and verno and Margarito both caused quite a bit of dmg to PW's face.. Imagine what he would look like after 8 rounds of taking shots from a guy like Pavlik..

not so much, he would still be taller and stronger than Williams at 160...

It would be a shootout, and you gotta favour the bigger man and harder puncher in a match like that.

Not really seeing anything that makes me think Williams could do it but out of all the guys below middle I think he would have the best chance at becoming a decent middleweight.

I agree with you on both counts here. If Kelly stays at middle long enough, I could actually see this fight happening within the next 2-3 years. It'd have the potential to be a great event if promoted properly.
