as I say, it would be competitive.........to a degree. IN MY OPINION :good P.S The Hopkins that Calzaghe 'beat' (I had it 114-113 Joe) would get stopped by Conteh, no doubt IMO. And I LOVE Hopkins.
I would agree with that. But to be fair with a decent ref I think Joe would have forced the stoppage. Admittedly not from power shots.
Possibly. He and Hop cancelled each other out offensively with Joe';s unorthodox footwork and Hopkins textbook work. Even if Hop wouldn't have fallen over and feigned injury, I doubt Calzaghe could've slapped him enough to force him to take a knee/quit/get pulled out/force a stoppage. Joe's hands just weren't up to it at that stage.
As I've always said he could still make room and bang one in when he needed to. He sent in some decent shots in the Kessler fight. Hopkins just doesn't have the tank any more.
BOLD: Disagree, though he landed some nice body shots in that fight LINED: Agree, to an extent. He has the tank for someone who favours him stylistically.
I think there's a right hook in one of the rounds that unusually for Joe had some real meat on it. Kessler took it well mind. I actually don't think Hopkins can do twelve without party tricks against anyone.
Pavlik? Don't remember any funny business there. Would be weird to assume that between Joe and Roy, 'Nard suddenyl had a resurgance in stamina. Or am I missing summat from the Pavlik fight?
never seen Conteh fight im to young but he must have been good. I think if Hopkins had been given the decision over Calzaghe it would have been a cheat. To go down feigning injury when your tired is no way of winning a fight. I never saw Hopkins jones 2 either but i hear he was up 2 the same tricks.
No it wouldn't have been. How young are you mate? Because whatever the age, I suggest watching Conteh vs Saad 1, on youtube in its entirety and one of the greatest figths of all time:good
im 26. Ill have a look at that one cheers. It was a crap fight and Hopkins did everything he could to get to the end.
As I stated earlier I think that Conteh wins this at a canter, it would be even more decisive under Conteh rules i.e. 15 rounds, same day weigh-in and smaller gloves
Whilst I think Joes engine and chin was good, and that in his prime he coulda made 175 on the day fairly easily, Conteh would stop him, providing he's got two hands. His left hook was hurtful: the dig in his right deadly (when he could use it)
