im a big fan on both and holmes has claimed for years that george ducked him and says hell fight him right now if he could who do you think would win id say larry could easily outbox george and possibly a late 14th round stoppage once big georges tires out
Holmes...cos he was an intelligent boxer with much more skill. Foreman was crude, but incredibly powerful. Skillwise there's no comparison.
Well Holmes could always take a punch. And he could really move in his prime. I like Holmes by decision. He would have to REALLY box and move laterally well though. Like he did against Cooney. He really boxed well that night and stayed well away from the ropes. If gets caught on the ropes to often or tries to stand in front of George he'll be in deep trouble - at least in the first 7 or 8 rounds. Overall Holmes was a great, great boxer who could win a fight with possibly the best jab ever on its own. His skills were undeniable. Foreman could bang but in his younger years he went hell for leather until he was gassed. That would be his downfall against Holmes.
I know as a Foreman fan I won't be taken serious in this thread, but first compare Foreman with Shavers and then look at the Holmes vs Shavers bouts. Then take a look at Holmes bout with Norton. I know cross referencing doesn't always work in boxing, but it does give an indication.
robney im a big foreman fan but holmes has alot of advanteges he was bigger faster and he had a better jab and all around better boxer foreman had the power but larry wouldnt stand in front of him i think foreman would get tired in the late rounds this fight would be alot like holmes cooney
