It's a good fight, IMO. Golovkin hasn't seen that kind of speed, power and movement in a fighter yet. I'd say Golovkin around the 8th.
Good point! Though I do think Golovkin would win, if you'd asked me after Sergio's fight against Dzin I'd definitely have said Sergio. People forget how much of a monster he was; that KO of Williams is literally the best KO I have ever seen. After the Chavez fight, I thought Martinez was the only real threat to May at 154. In hindsight however, even though he did dispatch of the likes of Macklin and Barker, scrape a very questionable win against Murray - I think Golovkin blows all these away with utter ease.
I think a prime Martinez edges Golovkin. Martinez had an helluva chin, mobility, a huge reach, and tremendous stamina (from a former cyclist...) I think prime Martinez would have won at points. I'm not sold on Golovkin yet. He looked incredibly sloppy both against Geale and in his last fight. He missed a ton of shots in his last two fights, and he's incredibly easy to hit. Golovkin is undoubtedly strong and has a very good chin, granite i would say based also in his amateur WARS, but against a skilled, elusive, highly mobile and unscared opponent like prime Martinez or Ward, he would look really bad, missing a ton or never having the oppoertunity to plant his feet. He missed a ton of shots in his last two fights, and he's incredibly easy to hit.
There would be nothing to expose. Martinez's chin has been tested a lot, and if 12 rounds of full force hooks from a 190 lbs opponent cannot stop a middleweight , this is what in boxe is called an IRON chin. Educate yourself, go watch Martinez-Paul Williams 1, and then shut up for good if you don't know things. :-(
