who wins ? ray leonard vs. terry norris , at 154 both prime

Norris would find out very quickly that this NOT the 91 version of Ray. Leonard TKO 7.

 

Norris would make a good fight outta of it,but once ray decided to turn it up a notch he would take out norris by 8 round ko.This is a pretty easy choice

 

Norris by 9-3 decision.

 

First of all let me just say that Leonard was a great great fighter. There's no denying that.

That's the good news.

Now here's the bad news: Norris would win in an upset. Norris would win but it would be close.

Leonard naturally along with the press would attribute the loss to the fact that Ray just took him lightly and that he would be better prepared for the rematch in which the fight would be dubbed RETRIBUTION.

Only it wouldn't work out that way. Once again, Norris would win again by about 3 point margin.

Leonard would go on to score some significant victories in an attempt to re-establish himself and prove he's still got what it takes before assuring himself that a Norris-Leonard rubber match would turn out in his favor.

This time, Ray would set out to blot the memory of the first two matches in a fight dubbed SANCTIFICATION.

But once again, Norris wins a clear cut decision, this time by a good 6 points.

Leonard it seems, cannot seem to figure the style of Norris and under the urging of his wife and trainer, decides to hang up the gloves for good.

 

I'd take Norris by decision. If Norris didn't stop the Leonard he faced, I don't see him stopping a younger version.

I think that Norris' heavier hands would be the deciding factor in a narrow, but convincing, decision win.

I can't just rule Norris out because of the common suspicion that Norris had a weak chin. If carrying a decent punch was enough to take Norris out, Jorge Castro or Vincent Pettway would have done it. I will not argue that Norris had a jaw of granite, and say that I know Leonard to be incapable of stopping him. In fact, with a younger Leonard's hand speed, I consider it to be a viable option.

 

Norris is turning into a bit of an urban legend on this site. Leonard is at a different level than Norris, maybe not physically, but in so many intangible areas, not to mention having a better chin. This never happened to leonard:

Leonard would hurt Norris at some point, and when he did, he would finish him brutally.

I agree exceptfor the ring intelligence cuz norris was a goodboxer as well as puncher,but to pick norris is blasphemous!! atschLeonard was one of the best finishers,and once he hurt norris he wouldnt let him of the hook,as for mental focus you are so right on and no one was more mentally focused than ray,I am surprised how close the poll is the leonard that beat hagler beats norris and so does the one who beat hearns,my god this is a no brainer:huh
