Povetkin still does a lot of things well but he also looks badly degraded in others. Like his dip to the left lead uppercut still looks crisp and fearsome (obviously) but his regular left hook looks awful now. I've never seen him wind it up like that before, and throw it so slowly off the right. All his combination punching seemed to have gone, and the few times he chained his hook it looked like a second apart where before it was lightning fast. Balance looked rotten as well. There's no longer that synergy between his hands and his footwork. Reminded me a bit of Golota, who used to look like a picture perfect boxer but turned into a wild swinging arm puncher towards the end of his career. That's only going to get worse, so who knows how many of his old tools he'll still have left in the muscle memory banks once the rematch winds round.

He'd be best to retire. He's got nothing left to prove at this stage, and his chances of getting another big win look pretty slim based on his form prior to the knockout.

Can't argue much with this. All the same he looks just good enough to be able to hang with top 10 guys while still being one punch away from victory - and as such you can't blame him for carrying on especially when he has guaranteed multi-million dollar paydays lined up with each subsequent win. It's been said he will retire as soon as he loses again.

I can see him beating someone like Chisora or maybe Parker, but nearly everyone else outside the top five would be a toss up. I'd even pick Wilder to beat him at this stage, sad as that is to write. Fury, Joshua, Usyk, Hunter all beat him. Ruiz might beat him as well. His skills have really declined, and Povetkin was always a guy who relied on putting it all together well.

Can't begrudge him some easy money, but I fear for his health if he keeps it up. He'll be eating some big shots from here on out, regardless of if he wins or not.

It's Ovah i will add on top of that, that his reflexes are 100% gone. They are even more gone compare to Joshua. Look the fight against Joshua, he was checking most of Joshua jabs, and Joshua has longer reach and way faster jab than Whyte has. Which just mean how much a fighter can decline in 1-2 year time. Even in the Joshua fight he was very much past it, and that was 2 years ago.
Povetkin after changing trainer(after the lost to Klitschko) improve his form and transform his body tremendously, he was very sharp, great reflexes, very quick on his feet, his punches was snapping, great explosiveness.
The main problem is he lacks the explosiveness. On the pads his speed looks good, same with Klitschko after he pass 37. On speed bag and pads his speed was looking good, but his explosiveness was pretty much gone. He wasn`t moving well, he wasn`t in a good position to score good shots and he was missing too many shots that were landing before. And of course your output is worst, because you can spend that much energy anymore.

So Povetkin take another rough fight is not a good thing for him. He should try to avoid the rematch, get a tune up fight and go for the title instead.
I don`t know the clause, but he either got to squeeze hard on it or to fully avoid the rematch. Its just not a good business for him.
