Eubank. In a similar vein to Ward, he wouldn't be in there if he wasn't going to win. I know he doesn't get a huge amount of love on here but he's a talent.
I really am surprised by the votes for Eubank in the SM division. Perhaps this could make for another thread, but do people think Eubank would win a middleweight tournament if there was one, presuming it contained names like GGG, BJS, Alvarez, Lemieux, Jacobs, Monroe Jn, Charlo etc ??
Yes obviously You are the same kid that said after Eubank fought Quinlan he should prove himself by fighting Murray/Paul Smith but then basically called Abe fight a cherry pick lol. People shouldn't take your posts seriously when it comes to Jr. After he wins this tournament you will just say Callum Smith and Groves are bums. GGG is the only middleweight I would give a great chance against Groves, stylistically a bad match up. I'd pick Smith to beat all of the middleweights. Smith is just too big and strong and they all have huge flaws he could exploit. Jr has flaws too but he matches up much better against Smith than they do. Most of the middleweights are too small for Smith, GGG and Jacobs being the exceptions but Jacobs is too chinny and GGG is too slow.
You're being very unfair there, James. If he wins that tournament he will get all the credit from me, and I'm certainly not fickle enough to turn around and then say Groves and Smith are bums. When I'm wrong (and I have been a lot) I always hold my hand up and admit it. I'm not an oracle, I'm a boxing fan from St Helens. Murray and even Smith (that might be pushing it) would have beaten Quinlan imo. He was poor and quite inexperienced in the pro game. That fight was Eubank safely dipping his toes into the SM division. Sorry, but Abe is shot to pieces and I felt stylistically he was tailor made for Junior with his peekaboo defence and reluctance to throw a shot. Finally, I'm a bit lost has to what you're on about regarding Smith against GGG, Jacobs etc They're different divisions? I was asking how people felt Junior would do in a hypothetical tournament involving the elite 160 division. You're a big fan of Eubank mate and I'm not gonna knock you for that. I just personally don't think he carries enough power at SM and I'm baffled has to why he's turned his back on the middleweight division where there are some potentially fantastic fights. All seems a bit smoke and mirrors to me.
Groves looks to be favourite but for some reason I wouldnt be surprised if Eubank Jr wins it (even though his lack of power could be exposed even more in this tournement)
Like a few people have been saying on here (including me), BJS reckons Eubank will pull out of the tournament if it means him meeting Groves... “His Dad isn’t stupid. He knows his level and knows who to match him with and who not to match him with and that’s the reason he hasn’t been back in the ring with me because he knows what will happen. The last thing you’d want to do if someone has beaten you is bypass them, you’d want that fight again as soon as but they don’t want that fight, they know what will happen. He’s moved up, had a couple of fights at super-middleweight and is allegedly a world champion”.
Callum Smith has the genetic advantages with the skills to boot. It's all about him fighting to his strengths and i think he'll win the tournament. I think maybe his trainer is limiting his potential but we'll see. I think Groves is on the down slide.
CEJ backs out once he is drawn vs Groves..... That's how I see it Pops doesn't want his son getting another L on the record! Groves win is a good bet
