Frazier destroyed the reigning LHW champ, one who was a damn site better than the champ Dempsey destroyed.

Frazier also took the 0 from Ali.

He got destroyed by George but I say Dempsey also gets destroyed by George so that makes no odds to me.

Frazier is about 10 pounds heavier than Jack as well, although I'm sure Jack could even that out without difficulty.

Both were dropped by men the only difference is Frazier was destroyed by big George and Dempsey was destroyed by Fireman Flynn.

    It's a tough pick.

You are siting stats. Skill wise they are not comparable. In every category Dempsey out matches Frazier. Better offence better defense. In a battle of hooks Dempseys hook was textbook and short...could not be shorter while Frazier tended to throw his hook in an arc at distance and in close to the sides. Over and above all of this Dempsey had ko power in BOTH fists where's Joe only had that hook. Jack had great coordination between both fists so he could punch in combination with stunning accuracy and power. You also will see Joe getting hit long and mid distance because he closed distance so slowly. He would Bob and weave but not move his legs so he ended up open for follow up punches usually his opponents hook as he came out of his crouch after bobbing.
Dempsey could also box very well so if need be he could step around out of harms way....prime Frazier had only one way to fight.

Dempsey was just the far greater fighting machine than Frazier.

Frazier proved his skills at a much higher level.

How many people actually came at Dempsey to knock him out? Willard, Flynn, Firpo and Fulton by my reckoning. 2 of them he excelled in, 1 knocked him out and the other dropped him heavily.

If he is landing a 6 punch combination on Frazier, of course he will hurt him. By the same margin if he comes in wild and gets hit with the left hook he's gonna be hurting himself.

Also has Dempsey ever been hit to the body with the sort of Hooks Frazier can throw? How will Dempsey react if he doesn't get him out early, if he has been pounded to the body and is being out strengthen by the stronger man?

The Firpo fight suggests he will respond by going to war, dropping all his fundamentals and going gung ho attack, when that happens I think he leaves himself open to a Frazier hook.

That being said, Frazier didn't face many hookers in his career, the main one was Foreman and he made mince meat of him. I just don't see Dempsey replicating that.

You point to one performance of Dempsey's that you think Frazier was incapable of replicating because I can certainly do the opposite.

You are a bit set in your ways but atleast you do try to debate on a technical level and that, I agree, is much more important than throwing stats around.

Frazier is a poor mans Dempsey. Jack was better in every category. Since both men fight in a crouch and Dempsey throws the shorter punches it will be very difficult for Joe to actually land to the body. Dempsey will be INSIDE of Fraziers offense. By maneuvering constantly to His left Fraziers hook will be further nullified. I can usually find a logical way any fighter beats another. Not so here.....Joe is outgunned against a far greater overall fighter.

(like Walcott Fight behind on Points with a Ketchel like one
Punch KO but this time Johnson Doesn't get up)

    Dempsey KO Marciano

From what i read is that this one was obviously a Dive.
We will never know because there is not even a photo of this
fight , let alone Film footage

Johnson or Marciano can't decide who though. I always go back and forth with those two.

Why was Jack so reluctant to face fighters of color after John Lester Johnson gave him a proper *sskicking?

Joe never had a problem crossing the color line and beating a motherf*cker down.

Frazier vs Dempsey this could be a boat race that go either way. If it goes into the 3rd I am going with Joe who during his short prime would have too explosive and durable enough.

Johnson vs Marciano Rocky in a later round stoppage after wearing Johnson down.

Frazier handles Rock based on size. I would also give the edge to Dempsey over Rocky.

Joe's prime was longer than Dempsey's and he was more active against top competition.

I agree that Joe faced tougher competition, When do you think Dempsey's prime started?
