I would favor the 30 year old Holmes over just about any Heavyweight. My point in bringing up those fights was that the 35 year old Holmes that Spinks beat was far from shot. Past his prime yes, but not shot.

I can see some good arguments for Marciano emerging victorious against this bunch. I can also find it possible that he may drop a decision loss to one of the slicksters when in their primes like Charles or spinks.

49-0 sounds pretty unbeatable to me. Indeed, it means he was unbeaten. Only a moron would say diff. And btw you may have been getting your ass handed to you everyday in the gym yr whole life. Anybody can be a forum champ Twink.

Sven Ottke was undefeated as well. Does that mean he was unbeatable as well you dumb ****? I would give anything to be face to face with you. I'd make you cry and beg for mercy guaranteed.

    Seeding could really matter here.

    Also what version of Schmeling?

Patterson and Marciano meet in the finals. I give Patterson a much better chance against Marciano than Dempsey but I still think he loses.

Firstly i am definitely not trying to pile onto you mate.

Spinks wins were impressive, no doubt. Taking into account he was a genuine light heavyweight who actually only hit as high at 174 once during his title winning effort all the way thru his reign. I think you post later that he was a big light heavy, well in dimensions he was but weight wise he usually had to worry about getting too light in camp - making weight was never an issue that i recall.

The 5 years difference was immense. Spinks was peak where as Holmes was about 5 years past his. Also look at the mileage. Spinks had 27 fights under his belt coming into Holmes where as Larry had 48. That's whopping. Holmes had been fighting professionally for 12 1/2 years versus 8 1/2 for Spinks.

Holmes did age gracefully, the decline was slow and steady but he was a far cry from what he had been. His loss of speed and reflex made him a great fit for Spinks stylistically with his speed, cunning and elusiveness.

Holmes had the guile and experience to make Holyfield look a bit sloppy but he was never in the fight. The official cards were probably a bit lenient.
