Michael Grant had his limitations, and defense was among one of the main things that needed repairing. For all of his short cummings however, he did have a lot of physical tools and at times showed quite a bit of heart. He did manage to throw together a string of some 30 wins before falling victim to a prime Lewis, and some of those victories weren't all against weak opponents either... If I were to pick who was the better fighter between Grant and Berbick, I would probably go with Trevor, as he did have better skills and more proven wins against a higher tier of fighters. It would not be a forgone conclusion that Berbick would always win head to head though. Grant was very large, powerful, and did not quit easily as seen against Golata and a few others. Berbick also had some off nights such as the ones against St Gordon, Renaldo Snipes, Bernardo Mercado and Leroy Caldwell. A guy like Grant could have potentially beaten Trevor on any one of these occasions..

:good Well summed up. Berbick blew hot and cold but I would still pick him by decision in an ugly fight.

It all depends on whether or not Berbick is crazy on the night of the fight.

If he's sane, Berbick by early KO.

If not, Grant has a chance for the upset.

Trevor was a guy that did better as the underdog & for some reason I didn't get, Grant had a loyal and faithful following. I sure don't think the Grant career does very well if he wore the Berbick shoes and was the Canadian road warrior. Plus, you'd have to subtract the HBO contract from him as well.

Probably Berbick, but Grants a live dog and actually looked good against Golota in rounds 6, 8 and 10
