some reason i think abraham might have ward's number because of how wild ward can get sometimes. i was at the fight and thought i was seeing things but got home and saw the replay and realized my eyes weren't playing tricks. he's wild and would have a hard time against abraham if they ever meet
Ward is adept at keeping out of range and slipping when he needs to, and then darting back in when it's to his advantage. I don't see Abraham catching him. In fact, Ward is probably perfect for the hit-and-run tactics needed to beat AA.
Hey David, congratulations to Ward and his fans, you guys were in the minority but predicted correctly, ESPECIALLY, you:good! Concerning AA vs Ward. First off, AA's defense is in a different league then Kessler's, I am not talking about physically/athletically just difficult to penetrate thru. Ward will not have his way with AA. JT has or HAD one of the best and fastest jabs in boxing and was hitting gloves all night. 2nd. This fight proves to me Kesslers power is overrated by many, granted he did not hit Ward clearly, but I and I am sure as many saw Kessler catch ward cleanly on a couple of occasions, and Ward did not even flinch. AA no doubt CLEARLY is the hardest hitter at SMW(arguable of course) just my opinion. Ward, will feel aa's power and WILL be reluctant to stand in front of AA, like he was ON OCCASION in front of Kessler. 3rd. AA is a VERY underrated body puncher, sometimes wild, but enough, Kessler was not going to the body enough due to Wards athleticism, but I figure AA will do his best to slow ward down early. Fourth, Ward undoubtedly is WILD at times and I think this is due to his inexperience in big fights, this is where AA will pinpoint his shots and catch Ward. 5th. AA will NOT let Ward clinch or hold, I just think he is the shorter man in the tournament, BUT physically THE STRONGEST I have no doubt. 6th. AA becomes AGGRESSIVE when he does not RESPECT his opponents power. Ward DID impress me as I thought he is feather fisted, but still don't think he has enough to shock AA. 7th. AA WILL NOT chase Ward around the ring, he will make Ward come to him, this is what I was MOST impressed about Ward tonight, RING GENERALSHIP. He did a magnificent job in controlling tempo and making Kessler fight his fight. 8. AA is a BRUTAL counterpuncher, that is his game, I am sure you as a boxing fan would agree with me. Ward CAN be counterpunched and AA will be looking for the explosive left or right. 9. AA's jab as is his body attack is also underrated, yes he seems like he has short arms and reach but if you watched the JT fight, he was landing at will, and in my opinion, that is what was JT's downfall. This is my opinion of a future AA vs Ward fight which I think AA WILL win, he will catch ward as this is AA's style. Also this tournament has shown me AA's style is going to be difficult to solve and Ward MIGHT be the one to do it even though I highly doubt it. Much respect my fellow posters:good
Just like Ward's level of ability was not really known before the Kessler fight, I think Abraham has more than what he has shown so far. If you watch his fights, you can see how he turns up the intensity at will, with a level of control that is very rare. There is always the sense in Abraham's fights that he could do moreif he needs to and he knows it. To me, it all comes down to the effectiness of Abraham's guard. His body mechanics are excellent for a double guard, long forearms and short upper body, he can cover his head and body without moving his hands. If he can block Ward's jab and punches from the outside as effectively as Taylor's, Ward will have to engage in the danger zone. I don't see a suppermiddleweight right now who can do that and win.
Tough one. I couldn't split them but I slightly lean towards Ward in a scrappy enounter that goes the distance.
