Hmmm...Waldo getting old but both have shaky China chins..still...Waldo knows how to protect his better...right now I say Waldo still...but if he looks very old vs Fury may have to switch to Wilder...younger Waldo would dominate Gypsy Fury so we shall see...
To be fair in post sparring interviews Wilder was highly respectful of Wlad, said he "now knows how meticulously a real champion prepares like" and how he "has his own work cut out for him in order to improve" his own game. He sounded humbled but in good spirits. Made Wilder quite sympathetic to me. I hope he won't go mouthing off anytime soon like they all do
exactly! ... as I said.. wilder and his team are some of the nicest and respectful guys I have met in boxing.. top notch.. all of them:good
The Molina-fight showed pretty much everything Wlad should be real scared of. Wilder proved great amount of heart when he came back strong at the end, o'boy only god knows his future. .
I couldn't see any possible way for Wilder to win this. He doesn't have any advantage that I can see. Wlad hurts him with the jab a few times before dropping the hammer on him. A Wlad ko is the only outcome.
I mean that, regardless of reach, Wlad has a far superior jab and can judge distance far more effectively, to the point where he rarely takes a flush shot. Do you think Wilder can use his reach advantage to dominate on the outside? On the outside, there will only be one winner. In close, Wlad will do his usual thing of clinching until the ref breaks them up. Wilder isn't going to be able to tee off with body-shots or uppercuts. If Wilder is more confident (and I can't imagine why he would be), that confidence is completely unjustified as he would be taking a huge step up in class. As for the gas tank, Wlad has pretty much mastered controlling the pace of a fight and I doubt it'll go the distance anyway because as soon as Wlad lands a right-hand flush, that'll be the beginning of the end. When the bell rings for this fight, all the advantages you think Wilder has will disappear quickly.
None taken and, for whatever it's worth, I'm 34 and have been watching boxing since I was 12. Reach can be vital but only if you know how to use it effectively. Wlad, in my opinion, uses distance to much greater effect than Wilder and has a vastly superior jab. I'd be very surprised if Wilder gained the advantage on the outside. A good example would be Paul Williams. He had a reach advantage over just about everyone he faced but he didn't know how to effectively use it, so his his opponents could negate it. Wilder can be reckless and easy to hit, which is pretty much the opposite of Wlad and one of the reasons I'd bet the house on Klitschko winning. I'm actually not a fan of watching Wlad (I find his incessant clinching makes most of his fights borderline unwatchable) but I don't think WIlder is the guy to beat him.
I think any objective fan knowa Wlad would be to much for Wilder. My question is, based on what you've seen from Wilder and the rest of the heavyweight division where do you rank him amongst the top 10 and how do you think he fares against the rest of the division outside of Wlad?
