fair enough, duran destroys barrera. breaks him down over 8 rounds, cuts him, the 9th round is brutal with duran rocking the body and knocking MAB down. He closes the show in the 10th with a vicious right hand that forces the ref to stop the fight
Duran is hard to bet against at lightweight, but man, if these guys could have fought prime for prime at 130...
Duran breaks him down and knocks him out, MAB is a natural 122-126 pounder he would be bitting off way more then could chew.
I think it's a little much to expect Barrera to fight at two weight classes above what I consider to be his best weight class and take on THE MAN at that class. Duran would probably break down Barrera inside the distance unfortunately. Not a fair fight here.
Stupid threadatsch Barrera never even had a fight at lightweight until he was over the Hill. His best weights were 122,126 and Was very good at JL but a little past his prime. IF Duran was a natural Feather this would have been a hell of a fight, but Id still pick Duran Probably by 11th round ko in a competetive and great fight but we are talking Elite top 3 or 4 atg against a Mid level ATG maybe top 50 at best.
Maybe we can match the Barrera of 2004 at 130 lbs. against the young Duran who fought there against Marcel. The footage of that bout is pretty grainy though.
Barrera was nowhere near his prime when he eventually fought at LW so what makes u think he would have a chance against arguably the GOAT LW ?
