I think the prime version of Hopkins at middleweight (1999-2002) would have found a way to shut down Martinez over the 12-round distance (probably with a lot of holding and mugging whenever he got in close to the Argentine, but also by using the right counter punches), but I bet it would have been a competitive fight. I gotta go with B-Hop, though. His record against southpaws is amazing.
B. Hop would need to null his footwork and his jab to win. Prime vs. Prime...I would have to say Hopkins by close decision.
hopkins stops martinez in about 10 rounds. can't believe people are underrating bernard like this. martinez is a very good fighter, but bernard is a great one, that's the difference. plus, they both have a common opponent in pavlik. bernard dominated, martinez won a close decision. martinez would win 2 to 3 rounds at most before being stopped late by the "executioner".
