I has the fight 115-113 for Kotelnick but easily could bee a draw, this is karma against Maidana he lose and he retain his title
As much as I hate the guy i'll give Khan credit for shutting out Kotelnik. Kotelnik should get the Bradley fight instead of Alexander which obviously wont happen.
I thought Alexander won the fight 7-5. I thought Alexander got off to an early lead and then won one here and there to get the win. It seemed like both guys were landing a similar amount(Kotelnik looked to be getting the better of the exchanges), but Alexander was much busier. The 116-112 cards across the board were off and I understand if you scored the fight for Kotelnik, but ultimately I thought Alexander won in a very close fight. Kotelnik proved to be tougher than I expected. I thought with him getting a bit older, being off for about a year, and losing big to Khan that Kotelnik was showing up to get a payday. But he proved that he is still one of the top 5 guys in the division. This should be an excellent learning experience for Alexander and if the fight with Bradley doesn't happen than I'd really like to see a rematch. It was a good fight,no way was it some sort of robbery, and it really deserves a rematch.
You can't score punches that land on gloves or hit nothing but air .. Alexander's head snapped back all night , kotelnik rarely got hit flush . Kotelniks jab found it's target at a very high rate after the 4th round. Kotelnik dominated this fight starting in the 4th. People need to rewatch this **** and score the fght based on clean, effective punching. Kotelnik was the aggressor the entire time too. He did enough to take the belts IMO
I don't know about top 5 guys in the division. This really was supposed to be a fight that made Devon look good. Kotelnik is a very ordinary fighter, who apparently possesses extraordinary will and solid fundementals. His timing was there tonight, and he wanted it, and fought as perfect a fight as I've seen in a while. People are saying he didn't throw enough, but he did exactly as he should've. When you're in with a much faster fighter, letting your hands go is asking to get hit all night. He kept a good guard, and only threw punches when he was gonna land something, and landed enough of what he threw. He isn't some top 5 guy because of this fight, but he deserves a HELL of a lot of credit for this win. He fought his heart out, and it pains me to see him get very little credit. I mean, once the outrage dies, he'll go back to being forgotten. He really should've had this win on his record, to say he did it, to say he went to a faster, stronger, undefeated youngster's hometown and kicked his ass. Kotelnik is the man right now.
just watched the fight again, and I think that the judges were swayed by alexander's business, and also the crowd reaction to the times alexander landed. a lot of the rounds had a lot of back and forth and weren't easy to score
Kotelnik got the better of the exchanges and I thought he won most of the rounds from the 5th round or so on. But I thought with Alexander's early lead he was able to win more rounds in the end. When the fight was over it felt like Kotelnik won but not on a round by round basis. There wasn't a big difference in punches landed and neither guy really hurt the other that I can think of so it seemed like Alexnader's effort to land more made the difference. I can see a Kotelnik win but I saw it for Alexander and don't see a robbery there at all.
I think you got to have Kotelnik in the top 5 or 6 at the least. Khan beat him and you have to put Bradley ahead of him as well. But he proved to be even with Alexander and beat Madaina. I'm not sure who else I'd put ahead of him right now. Maybe Guzman and Judah(when he actually fights at 140 again) but he's right there in that mix. He's a solid fighter fundamentally and has good ring smarts. I thought he was coming to get paid last night and was wrong. I hope he gets a rematch with Alexander or atleast another big fight.
Can someone tell me the poll numbers ? Because I didn't see the fight so I don't want to cheat and pick one just to see the numbers, but I am curious to see who ESB thinks won the fight.

could've gone either way. Scores were too wide, Lederman's card was ridiculous as usual. Alexander was disappointing after performing so well against Urango and Witter. Constantly punching from too far out and ultimately punching himself out. Should have been more patient and picked his spots.
