Bivol won 1,2,8,9 on all 3 judges scorecards

If you want to judge whether Bivol deserved a draw or not then you're best off just watching rounds 4 and 7 to score them.

To me, Beterbiev broke Bivol up, he was running on empty 10,11,12 fighting in survival mode.

A clear 7-5 Beterbiev for me, I dont think Bivol would have made it through a 13th round, I fancy Beterbiev strongly to win a similar fight in a rematch in a slightly clearer manner.

 

This thread is proof of how close and competitive this fight was.

 

I scored it a draw with Bivol taking the early rounds mainly and some of the later ones.

I am not mad at the end result though nor do I think 116-112 was a major robbery. Plenty of swing rounds. If I HAD to pick one I would give it to Artur.

 

Boxing.

 

Beterbiev won, but only just. In the first four or so rounds I thought Bivol was outboxing Beterbiev comprehensively. Only by stepping up the pace and really pouring it on did Beterbiev win.

If it had been a draw, I wouldn't have protested, but imo Bivol didn't do enough later on to get the win.

 

You don't win extra scoring points by punching from the center of the ring compared to punching from the edges of the ring.

Think about it.

 

Was just about to post something to that effect. There's nothing to whine about here. We got a great fight between two contrasting styles and a majority decision in a razor close fight. I don't think the 116-112 card was good, but that's just cosmetic criticism. Scoring it for Beterbiev is fully valid imo even though I had Bivol probably just edging it when I viewed it live. Could change at a second viewing.

I also like how both conducted themselves post fight. Beterbiev graciously admitted Bivol was the more skillful fighter and Bivol had no gripes about the decision and only good things to say about Beterbiev. This in an era where fighters cry robbery when they've been well beaten and give the winner zero credit, even when they've trashed talked him beforehand.

Except for it being held in Saudi and Kadyrov coming in to celebrate with Beterbiev, it was exactly how you want boxing to be. Also amazed at how good Beterbiev still is, at almost 40.

 

I think the scoring was good spot on. Great fight between two fantastic boxers. I had it Berbetiev by 2 rounds, but any way you look at it the best you could give Bivol (who is a class act) was a draw. Bivol has a real chance in a rematch, but clearly he is the best of the rest and will likely become undisputed when Beterbiev retires.

How about the guy who lands much more clear punches and combos? Aggressing on your opponent's gloves doesn't mean crap.

 

Bivol. no draw....Beterbiev lost. very good fight though.

 

Bivol got run ragged by a 40 year old with a bum knee.

 

Could go either way by 1-2 rounds.

Im glad were arguing a close fight instead of a ****ing robbery.

Guess we all won.. bring on the rematch.
