Close fight. Bivol winning would have left a bad taste. I don't think he did enough. Too passive on the ropes.
I had it 6 rounds to 4 with 2 that could go either way for Bivol. Bivol was more elusive and accurate, while Beterbiev was more active and stronger. Every round was fairly even and came down to either fighter landing one or two good punches while almost everything they threw landed on elbows and gloves.
The scoring is called a must system because you must make a choice - there are no 10-10 rounds. If you decided to split the close rounds then it is 114-114. If you gave both close rounds to a single fighter then they win 115-113.
That is not correct, as I noted before, whilst 10-10 rounds are frowned upon, they ARE allowed, and you will see judges that use them in sanctioned bouts by the 4 governing bodies. You can see some examples in boxrec where you see some odd scores - like recently I saw a 116-114 that gave me pause and it was because there were 2 even rounds in the scoring. https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/box...judges-and-referees/zncunu9sov881vkqqvvqlsu67
I tried hard to make Bivol not lose because of his mild, polite, and calm nature, as well as the issues with his ex-wife. So, if I score it as you say, then Beterbiev won by 115 - 113.
Because Beterbiev has very heavy hands. Bivol tasted it some and he was probably scared he would be knocked out cold. So, he kept backing away throughout the second half of the fight.
It wasn't a great performance by either of them though, there were things that both of them could have done better, but I am more critical of Bivol as the much younger man in his prime.
Busta Rhymes won. Unfortunately, no necks were broken apart from Frazer Clarke's but Turki has very kindly obliged Busta's request of "gimme some more" and we now have a rematch coming soon. When disaster strikes, you can always be sure that Busta will be in charge of the scenario.
Thought it was a close fight. Scoring depends on what a judge looks for. Beterbiev punched mostly guard all night with a high volume, punches that were still busting Bivol up through the guard causing damage. Bivol landed the cleaner crispier showier shots of the fight, but the punches looked to have very little effect on Beterbiev. Bivol also didn't have the gas tank to box and counter for 12 rounds. I thought he won rounds clearly when he boxed and countered. It seemed like Beterbiev was the heavier handed fighter. I have no problem giving rounds to Beterbiev for being active and punching guard because he was damaging Bivol's face through the guard. I'm scoring damaging punches.
Close fight, I had it 115-13 to Beterbiev. I had Bivol winning the first 3 rds, then Beterbiev the next 3 and then they took turns winning rounds until the 10th, so had it a draw after 10 rds. Beterbiev won the fight for me in those last two championship rounds where he simply was the busier man. I can see why people scored it for Bivol. He was faster and flashier, but he also only seemed to fight in spurts for much of the fight, trying to steal rounds with a burst of activity. While Beterbiev was more consistent with his out put, was less flashy and impressive but was steadily racking up points and rds. Just comes down to what you prefer, so can see a case for either winning. There needs to be a rematch.
The dude literally misspelled Artur's name and called him no IQ. And to top it off he says he has no head movement yet this is the guy who couldn't avoid a punch from Canelo and even got dropped. Talk about pot calling the kettle back. Beterbiev would massacre Berlanga within 4 rounds if they were to ever fight.
