i dont think anyone who was on a telecast calling that fight thought DLH won...it wasnt even close....sturm waxed that ass...
I agree that Sturm should have got the victory, but the biggest robbery you've ever seen??? You must not watch a lot of boxing.
Strum.. definitely did enough to win.. but this was the fattest and flabbiest we ever saw Oscar... This was I believe the most unprepared Oscar we have ever seen..
I have seen the fight only once - on the night it happened - but I distinctly remember thinking Oscar got his ass kicked. That was several years ago, and chances are my mind would change if I saw the fight again, but...I doubt it.
It was a boxing/jabbing clinic by Felix....... ......did'nt DLH concede in his book he lost the Sturm fight??? ......usually when fighters write a book and concede to feeling they lost a fight in which he got the benefit of the doubt......it usually means they were soundly beaten that now in hindsight are to embarrased to take credit for it. Ray Leonard admitted to losing the Hearns rematch as well.
I just watched that fight for the 1st time I thought 7-5 sturm was about right could have argued the draw at a stretch(maybe) but to say oscar won 7-5 is too much I think but people saying this was an ass kicking need to go back and re watch it, Sturm landed alot of jabs but also had long periods on inactivity in the 1st minute or so of many of the rounds and just danced for the last 20 seconds or so of many of the rounds which could have definetely gone against him. Either way sturm is a much better fighter than previously thought.
Erroneous.......Sturm landed the cleaner, harder shots consistently round after round. Sturm dictated pace and he dictated tempo. Sturm basically controlled the action. DLH's best shots were to the body, but to those who want to overcredit him for those, while DLH did land some good shots to the body......I thought he landed best with one's and two's down there......most of the flurries DLH dispensed to the midsection were being blocked by Sturm. 8-4 or even 8-3-1 for Sturm is how I remember scoring it. I remember having a good laugh when they announced the decision. It was so bogus it was funny.
Sturm COULD have won it, but he didn't take it. I was ringside. Whether or not you think ODLH's punches were effective, fact remains he was landing punches, shoeshining, doing every damn thing he could to win that fight on points and he did enough. If you're looking for someone to blame for the outcome of the fight, then look to Sturm, who couldn't ever be bothered to do anything more than jab jab jab.
