And you think you can defend your title by backpedaling for the most part of the fight without counter punching effectively. Herrera did more damage IMAO, his combination that bloodied Garcia nose wise priceless. He came to fight and he outboxed and outfoxed the Rican. The real problem for Garcia is not that he arguably lost IMAO. It is that he will always struggle against fighters that can box well and give him angles.
why? Im proving a point. Point being, it doesnt matter who you "feel" won the fight. Garcia won and no amount of whining is going to change the fact. Most of us are adults yet very few act like it.
No, Garcia got his hand raised. That does not mean he actually won the fight. If you think its somehow childish to discus extraordinarily bad judging, and meek acceptance of things that drive fans away from boxing is somehow being "adult" then so be it. But it does make you look pretty silly, especially when you admit to not even watching the fight.
Rounds arent scored on just scoring shots, but garcia landed plenty. the judges obviously favoured garcias cleaner, better quality, more educated shots over herreras scruffier jabs and grabs and i agree with them. They were close rounds and mostly ugly but this was no robbery. Richard abril did nothing but jab and grab against rios who forced the fight all night, then abril wondered how he lost. no robbery, judges dont score much for jab and hold tactics and im glad they dont it would ruin the game forever.
The Showtime scorers all had it scored for Herrera by 2-4 rounds. If you mean the official results, yes, Garcia got the W.
oops. that's what i meant...the officials. i watched the fight with a different commentating team. i believe they were russian...so i wasn't swayed by anything they said because i didn't understand what was being said. what i saw in the fight....herrera had a nice plan that seemed to confuse and stifle danny. he did an excellent job of taking away the counter punches...and landing his own jab. neither of them ever took real control over the bout. there was a lot of back and forth, tit-for-tat....and there were several rounds that could have gone either way. i could see the argument for a win either way. it was not a robbery.
