There's already a poll on this here: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322625 On my scorecard I had Sturm winning 7 rounds to 5. The problem I see with this fight - as well as many others - is that people are forming their opinion by looking at rounds 1-12 as a whole. In this case, then yes, I see why many would think Macklin won clearly. But that's not how you score the fight, is it. Split the whole fight into 12 and score each round seperately, and you'll find that a Sturm victory is not out of the ordinary.
I must be the only Irishman who had Sturm winning! I just saw the cleaner shots from Sturm. He swept the last few rounds and there was plenty of debatable ones before that also. Would have loved to see Macklinw get the nod but being honest...he was more hard grafter than quality operator.
i had a Draw 5 rounds for Macklin 2 Rounds Draw. In the late rounds Sturn landet more effective jabs and clear punches on Macklin. For me it was a Draw but in Germany The Champ has a Big Bonus nut:nut
Macklin by a round or two. He defiantly deserved to win, and obviously wanted to win more than Sturm! Absolutely gutted for the lad and I bet on Sturm by decision!
I have to score it round by round, but I will say this, as an Irishman who is unbiased towards brit fighters, Ryan Rhodes got **** in a thread here for getting a shot at Alvarez, he got **** for being a guy who lost to Gary Lockett years back so therefore had no business having a world title shot, yet he destroyed Jamie Moore who knocked out Macklin. I don't think it was so much that Rhodes had a bad performance as much as Canelo had the best performance of his career. That's all. btw I predicted a Macklin victory. but as I say I need to score it again rd by rd before I give my verdict to be fair.
I had it to Mack by 7-5 and would be fine with a draw or Sturm by a round, but Mack only winning 4 rounds on 2 cards is a joke.
No, if you score the fight by round, you will find that Macklin landed far more power shots per round. It's math and common sense. Macklin controlled the action, pursued Sturm through every round, and landed far more punches. That = victory. Plus, Sturm looked like a beaten fighter at the end. Macklin did not. Robbery.
