To sum up the fight look at both compubox #'s and the ebb and flow of the fight. The two fighters landed exactly 246 punches each. But Mosley landed 27 more power punches. And his were the more powerful of the two considering he was never clearly hurt and Cotto obviously was. Also Mosley FORCED Cotto out of his pressure style by obviously hurting him and making Cotto fight going backwards for the last 4 rounds of the fight. A FULL THIRD of the fight. So in the end Mosley forced his will upon Cotto and racked up more power punches. Sounds like the winner of a fight to me. And on another point Shane showed class and Cotto showed the typical classless Puerto Rican fighter arrogance.
cotto shows some versatility that he has always had ... he used to fight that way when he first turned pro !
Rooted for Shane but I think Cotto won. Cotto was dead weigh in the 9th and 10th and I think that Shane let a golden opp. slip by on that one.
Cotto clearly won the fight the jab was pasting shane all night along with a straight right hand ...shane himself knows he lost quit coming up with these wild theories of yours....it was a great close competitive fight but Cotto edged it cleanly.
This is from fightnews : Mosley pressed in the eleventh, but Cotto landed some great counterpunches to win the round. Who is biased? You or fightnews?
Definently was a really good fight, had you in suspense till the very end. :thumbsup Reason I gave Cotto the 11th was because of the nice shots he was landing when he countered. Mosley was comming forward, but he didnt land anything significant I thought, while Cotto got the better end of those exchanges.
Wow- what a counterpoint to my argument! "Quit coming up with these wild theories of yours". I use statistics and a long accepted standard to judge a fight and your take is Cotto "used a jab and straight right hand". Well, apparently he used that straight right 27 less times than Mosley.
I felt Cotto won a close decision 7-5. Just a very, good competitive fight. Judging by Mosley's post-fight interview, he didn't seem to think he won.
Actually it wasn't the commentary, it was my own EYES witnessing what was going on which was Cotto landing the cleaner, harder punches more consistently than Shane, throughout most of the fight. And the HBO commentary wasn't biased.. EVERYBODY was saying it was a close fight, including Shane Mosley, you fool. And btw, great fight though I think it had the potential to be even better and more action-packed then it was.
I was horrified that Casamayor was given the result against Santa Cruz but now I see so many people saying that Mosley won I know that these people are the sort of people that become judge and destroy the sport with crap decision like Casamayor vs Santa Cruz
