this is why i think he lost abit of the rounds. molsey won around the first 3 rounds then cotto came back and won the rest of the fight until he though the had won and lost 4 rounds thus making it 7-5 to mosley just becuase cotto chose a wrong battle plan
I also had it for Cotto in a close fight with the jab, which is like a power shot for Cotto (he is left handed), being the deciding factor. I know punch stats are generally a decent way of interpreting the action but I think looking at Mosley's advantage in that department is a little misleading. Damn near every time Cotto landed the jab, Shane's head would be snapped back violently. On the other hand, the overhand rights that Mosley was landing (prime argument for Mosley) did not always land flush, Cotto was never hurt in this fight. Last little bit of observation, it seems like everyone that was pulling for Mosley before the fight criticized Cotto for being one dimensional. Now that they've seen another side to him, fighting off the back foot and countering, its being said that Cotto was forced out of his gameplan when in fact he chose to fight that way. Folks, Miguel was a highly decorated and successful amateur. He's fought numerous styles on his slow rise to the top and he's a hell of a hard worker. Why on earth do so many people think the guy wouldn't be able to box more traditionally? In closing, the look on each man's face really said it all, Cotto had the same expression he always has but Mosley looked concerned and, dare I say, accepting of the outcome. Both guys are class acts and a credit to the sport and to the ass that said Cotto was arrogant, think man. Mosley was much more eloquent and gracious because english is his first language. I tried to learn Spanish in college and gave up after I got the credit. Meanwhile, Cotto has made vast improvements in the last six months in an effort to speak to all his fans, not just the Puerto Ricans. Sorry for the length guys, I just got a little peeved at the other dude who said people we're just clicking on Cotto's name and not giving some kinda of testimonial.
Just watched the fight. Cotto took it 7-5 IMO with a couple of close hard to score rounds. Props to Shane. I never thought he would give Cotto so much trouble, specially at this stage of his career.
****, I wanted to vote draw and picked Mosely by accident. Regardless of all of this "robbery" bull****...I thought it was a very close fight. On my card I had a draw, but I honestly could make more of a case for Mosely than I could Cotto. But whatever...it was a great fight, and hardly a gift or robbery like some are painting it to be.
I thought Mosley won it by two rounds. Good, close, entertaining fight, too close to be called a robbery either way it went.
