Actually, I had Sturm by a point on second viewing, but I still don't see this mostly Sturm domination a lot of guys are talking about, the guy barely throws.
I watched the borefest but my concentration wasn't the best but from that I watched the better work came from Sturm. First time I've seen Murray fight and I won't be in a rush to watch him again.
Fighters like Sturm seem to get given the benefit of the doubt in fights like these because they fight their fight. It's the same with Abraham when he was down at 160. People would consistently give him rounds when he did nothing, because his style has always been to, well, do nothing, I guess. I think you see the same thing with other fighters of a similar style, like Huck and Sturm. If they aren't active enough and they take too many shots, they lose the round, it's as simple as that.
I'm quite comfortable on it so I'll stay where I am. PS - Sturm didn't dominate but his work was clearly better from start to finish.
I had murrey ahead by 3 but it was a close fight with many close rounds so a draw is a fair result. It wont be long before Strum gets beat i just hope Murrey gets a rematch and does enough to show he deserves the title which he didn`t quite do this time.
Possibly the first time ive been put off by the SKY commentary, it was a close fight that could have gone either way, did not enjoy the biased coverage at all. The fight itself was quite difficult to score imo with plenty of close rounds, i had it 115 - 113 to Sturm at the final bell, when he opened up he produced the classier more eye catching shots which swung the rounds in his direction. Murray had his moments no doubt and would have won more of the earlier rounds on my card if he has stepped into more of his punches and shown a little more conviction instead of producing ineffective weak combinations. In the middle rounds Murray really came on allot and started to put more onto some of his flashy combinations whilst taking Sturm's powerful blows on his arms, he got right back into the fight and needed the last round to get a draw, unfortunately the final cameo that Sturm produced was enough to get the nod for that round and ultimately the fight. However i would not have argued if the fight had been awarded to Murray who showed tremendous heart stepping up a good few notches in a hostile environment, he certainly done Britain proud.:good
I had Strum by two, learned ones again to mute Jim 'Biased' Watt during fights on Sky. Do that and you will start scoring fights differently
I thought Sturm won pretty clearly. I was laughing at the end of some rounds, where Watt and Smith were like "thats another Murray round for me".
Sturm had problems against 'average' fighters in the, too. See Griffin (I) who never achieved anything before or after the fights against Sturm. Sturm is not shot, he simply has zero ring intelligence.
I didn't score the fight as such but my initial reaction when it finished was that Murray had not quite done enough to win.
