Tight fight. I know paulie was busier but his punches were like little slaps. Broner landed the best shots all night. Close fight.
For me, Malignaggi won rnds 1,2,4,10,12. Broner didn't look that special but he still won, 115-113 seemed fair. Btw, BoxNation commentators had it 118-110 Broner...
I had Paulie winning rounds 1,2,4,9,10,12 I also think he might have won one of the middle rounds but can not remember which one might have been round 6. Broner should have been deducted at least one point as well for kneeing him in the face and that thing where he pulled him down and did a spinning punch.
I was ringside and I had Broner winning 115-113.A great night and a packed house. Some good fights in the stands as well, which helped, especially during the Banks heavyweight snorefest.:good
I went into the fight rooting for Paulie, but felt he was going to lose. And in my mind, he did. Broner had a lot more trouble than I thought he would, he was less impressive than he should have been, but that doesn't mean he lost. I think you can reasonably give 4 rounds to Malinaggi, more than that is kinda doubtful. Unless you really get impressed by punches landing on the arms.
I had it 9-3 for Broner. Paulie didn't win a round after the 4th on my card when he was up 3 rounds to 1. Shoe shining and jabs don't win rounds on my card when you're getting hit back with hard shots. There was a later round where I could see an argument for Paulie, can't remember which off the top of my head, but it was around round 8. So I could see 116-112. Clear as day who won that fight. And it wasn't Paulie.
And I would like to know on what basis did people score the fight for Paulie? That means you gave him 7 rounds!!! Based on what??? Clean Punching: Broner -- Landed the harder/cleaner shots, landed way more power shots, and landed at a higher percentage. Defense: Broner -- Paulie threw over 800 punches and landed at what? 23%? 24%? Ring Generalship: 50/50 -- Paulie did a good job stopping Broner from throwing at times with his activity and movement and Broner also did a good job countering and cutting off the ring at times. Push Effective Aggression: Broner -- 80% of that ring belonged to him, and Paulie couldn't land anything to back him off. Did Broner even take a step back all night? Walked his man down while landing hard power shots and taking minimal damage in the process. Effective aggression. Activity is not a scoring criteria....................
