I gave Paulie round 1, that's it and I struggled tp give him that round.

You don't take a title in a guys home town doing what Broner did. If Broner was the Champ I would not have a problem with the decision.Close rounds go to the champ, Broner didn't do enough to win.

 

You don't win fights with just body shots. It has to always be a mixture of head and body shots. Paulie hardly landed any jabs either. And he backed Paulie up after round 4 till the fight was over.

 

Paulie landed, but not like Broner did.

 

You don't win fights by laying back and waiting to counter. You have to take it from the champion and Broner did not do that. Broner should have been more aggressive and walked him down. He wasn't busy enough to win

Broner walked Paulie down all night and landed the heavier more effective punches. In fact Paulie was his own worse enemy in that fight because he allowed Broner to come forward, which leaves an impression in the judges mind that he was the inferior fighter by going backwards.

I've heard people say Broner never hurt Paulie, this is not true, he had Paulie in unsteady legs a few times, and there was a reason why Paulie was complaining of head pain in the 11th round.

Was not Broner's most impressive outing, but I thought after the 2nd round, he was not troubled by anything Paulie threw or did, and if you factor in Broner jumping 2 divisions, fighting in Malinaggi's hometown, and facing a difficult style, I'd say he did pretty good.

To Paulie's credit, it was the best Malinaggi I've seen in a few years, very spirited effort, but he just looked like the inferior fighter, Broner 8-4.

 

Why do people keep asking what did Paulie do to win 7 rounds you dont need to win 7 rounds to win the fight, I had Paulie up by 1 round, I scored a lot of teh rounds even (paulie more work rate broner not doing enough but landing clean when he did)
paulie won more rounds but neither fighter won 7

 

Broner went on 45 second lay offs in almost every round. If you score each round in one minute intervals: Who won the first 1/3 the second 1/3 and the 3rd 1/3, You have to give credit to who was doing more. Broner absolutely had the more "fan friendly" action when he was throwing, but he only let his hands go in spots and took damn near full minutes off without throwing a single punch.
If paulie wasn't hurting broner at all, he should have been letting those hands go. The fact that he didn't let them go at all, leads me to believe he was getting tagged better than he would have us believe(likely to the body). Just because broner had his guard on all night, doesnt mean none of paulies body work didnt make contact. I give paulie the nod for touching the body the WHOLE fight consistently as opposed to fighting inactively in spots.
Close fight no matter how you cut it. Even with the fouls aside, which should have been points deduced from broner, the best i could do is give broner a tie. He lost a close fight to the swarming pitter patter of malignaggi. he is not boxing's next great hope.

 

This is just complete bull**** here. Judges are NOT supposed to award the champion close rounds. Anyone who subscribes to this theory loses credibility instantly.

 

Broner was the better man. Suprised so many people picked against him going into this fight.

 

Do the majority of the people really think Pauly won or do they hate Broner that much that it tints there glasses. I'm somewhat baffled by this, Pauly was not landing those combinations effectively at all. Who would you rather be in that fight? If much rather be Broner. Pauly got busted up and wobbled a few times.

 

You must be new here. That's how things are done on this site. If a boxer isn't the fan fave, everyone finds reasons to discredit him, even going far enough to say he lost a fight he clearly won.


With most people here, it's pointless trying to argue actual fight results, because they can't do it objectively. :good
