Thread tittle: Who won the fight, Cotto or Clottey? But you meant ''how should the fight of been judged''? :huh be clear And an UD can also be a close fight :deal 115-113 all across
114-113 based solely on the last two rounds. Clottey has this way of setting himself up to cry 'robbery' but not do enough to win fights....It's strange to me - this is a very winnable fight going into the 11th round for Clottey, he just does nothing to win these two rounds. He doesn't look out of gas, and he's never hurt in the fight, he just cruises through the most important six minutes of the fight....Gutsy performance by Cotto who still looks like he tires late in fights, and leaves himself open at times especially to uppercuts - but fighting for seven rounds pawing at your lead eye to keep blood out of it was great to see. Judging by this fight alone, I'm not certain that Cotto can handle the output of a Manny Pacquiao. If Manny finds himself in a do or die situation in rounds 11 and 12, he comes out roaring, plain and simple....
After re-watching it w/a cool head this is my scorecard. Clottey had it, But he stopped throwing giving Cotto the opp to take it. + the KD being the only real thing that actually separates them, IMO. (I gave both 6 rounds, But the KD being the difference) 1st round- Cotto 10 Clottey 8 (Shotgun Jab drop's Clottey, Clean KD) 2nd round Cotto 9 Clottey 10 3rd round Cotto 9 Clottey 10 4th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9 5th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10 (Defo a side step and shoulder tackle, Cotto has done similar acts before) 6th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9 7th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10 8th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10 9th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10 10th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9 11th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9 12th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9 (Rabid Punch & a Nut shot, Clottey looking to get a point from the ref?) Final score: 114-113 Miguel Cotto
On that logic it was a 4 and 6 was a 10-8 round for Cotto. I have it 6 rounds a piece with the KD winnig it for Cotto 114-113
because clottey landed the crisper punches had the better defense, controlled ring centre (cotto was on his bike AGAIN), put his punches together better and i thought clottey was a dead cert for at least 6 rounds 2,3,5,7,8,9 and there is no way cotto swept the last three or won every close round
