I had Cotto close, 7-5. A rematch should've been in order to clear up the whole Cotto-Mosley-Margarito triangle.
Cotto won a clear decision. It was so clear that Mosely didnt complain about it and gave Cotto props for: beating him.
I know I am in the minority on this one, but I had Mosley winning. I concede, Mosley is one of my favorite fighters, so I may have been biased. However, everyone else I watched the fight with also had Mosley winning, and the guy who made a bet with me (and picked Cotto) had it a draw. In fairness, I have not seen that fight in a very long time.
You're not the only one who had Shane winning, even though that does put you in the minority. I maintain my position that there's unfinished business between Mosley and Cotto, but I suppose I can't begrudge them looking for bigger paydays. Maybe/hopefully we'll get to see a rematch before it's all said and done anyways.
I voted Mosley by razor thin. The early rounds were close the middle saw Cotto coming on The latter rounds showed Mosley coming back. Great fight could have been a draw but not mad at the Cotto win. But I was surprised at all three judges having Cotto 7-5.
Here's what I gather is the general consensus on the fight: Cotto won the fight closely in the 7-5 to 8-4 range. Mosley did the better more effective work in the 2nd half. Shane fought the wrong gameplan and kept with it until it was too late. Miguel nearly gave the fight away in the 2nd half by trying to get too cute and "boxing" too much. If it was a 15 round fight, Miguel loses. We all want a rematch.
I know I gave it to Cotto, but I think the score was 116-112, 117-111 I had it in that range in that range. I'll have to get my scorecard from my file.
In actuality it was Mosley, but that wasn't clear on the night to even myself in my own mind, so I'm split. It could have been a draw probably, but for the purposes of the poll I went with the scientific answer.
The final 4 rounds are overrated by boxing fans. Cotto outboxed Mosley in 2 of the final 4 rounds by moving and picking his shots. If it was a 15 round fight, Cotto continues to outbox: Mosley.
