I thought Shane looked like he had much more stamina than Cotto, I still believe that he does. Anyway I had it 115-114 Cotto, if Miguel wasn't the young champion with the "0" I think we would have had an SD or at least an MD, it was that close.
to be honest no one really won that fight clearly , but if I had to lean towards someone I'd say Cotto
I think it is certainly possible that Mosley could win a rematch. He was totally befuddled by Cotto's style and speed at first, and managed to flip a switch as he more or less bossed the last 4 rounds. I'd still have to favor Cotto, though. Mosley just doesnt do well when he's got a stiff, powerful jab firing at him. It shuts down alot of what he likes to do best, and forces him to box more, which is not really what Shane does well.
Good point. Many thought that Mosley doesn't have it anymore and he couldn't get back on top after the Mayorga fight, but after the Margarito fight (and Cotto's loss to Margo) many people suddenly say they would favor Mosley in a rematch with Cotto. Imo, Cotto's style of fighting would always trouble Mosley and I think we would be in for yet another close fight, should a rematch happen.
Mosely 6-5-1 that Mosely gass out part is a myth, Cotto was the one running away in the championshp rounds.
I was watching this fight at a sportsbook in vegas with a boy who put 800 on cotto at around minus a buck fifty and I had to convince him cotto would get the nod. There was no doubt in his mind that mosley had won the fight. I personally had cotto winning 7-5 but have had mixed feelings every time i have rewatched it.
This is the fight that fooled me with Cotto. He boxed great off the back foot that night against a Mosley who had gotten a second wind. Since he hasnt been able to replicate that against either Margarito or Clottey.
Mosley did look visibly tired at the end of the 8th, and if anything the biggest myth about this fight is that Cotto "ran away" in the championship rounds. It was only in the last minute of round 12 is when he was backpeddling.
