I had this 8 - 4 Loma Haney despite starting well just didn't do enough from the middle rounds and down the stretch to be called the winner at the end of the fight
Actuallyj. i was supporting Loma and was waiting for him to take over the fight. It never happened until maybe 10 or 11th. He would be crying right now.He could have won if he had the same energy in the 11th in the early rounds. Maybe it's old age or the body shot took it's toll because he was clinching than trying to attack. He got ripped to the body and that might of made him hesitate to launch a big surge like in the 11th. Who knows i am leaning towards both as plausible reasons. I also would like to congratulate Haney for being the second American to beat Lomachenko. Not many can proclaim such feat. As a boxing fan with integrity and this is gentle man sport. We gotta give props to the rightful winner. Not the more popular fighter etc.
How does anyone score the 12 for Haney when Loma was pushing the action and landed more effective shots, even if they weren't as effective his critics will claim, Loma still landed more shots. Nothing Haney threw came close to hurting Loma and deter his game plan of negating Haneys jab and counting him. Loma was landing double lefts all throughout the fight without a struggle. So we going to totally ignore Haney only threw 35 punches in the 12 round but won the round? Haney wasn't even outboxing Loma so there isn't an argument for that. In the exchange Loma always got the better of the two. If critics want to call this a "swing" round, why give it to the guy who threw 35 punches and didnt have an answer for Loma who casually landed 15 punches and threw over 55 times. People saying Loma didnt do enough but what did Haney do in the 12th? I saw him get his head snapped back by Loma who looked like he was just comfortable standing infront of Haney.
I had Loma up by two rounds but gosh dang it one of my prediction’s were actually correct and I’m gonna enjoy it!
Indeed they can. Athough has it never struck you that close rounds seem to be called in favour of the guy with the big bucks behind him and the long career before him? I haven't even seen the fight yet but my guess before it began, based solely on my knowledge of how boxing seems to go, is that Lomachenko would need an overwhelmingly dominant performance to get a points decision whilst a close fight would see Haney declared the winner regardless.
Didnt see the fight yet cause of work. Boxing scene scored it a draw and their scores are usually pretty accurate.
Bumping this thread. I didn't vote because I didn't watch the whole fight and don't know how to score close rounds even if I did. Someone also started a new "who did you score for" thread and we only need one of those.
If you believe Loma won 7-5 then sorry that is no robbery. Didn't like Loma's interview where he made a point about fighting for the orthadox church. Seemed to me he was responding to Haney praising Allah for his victory.
Loma's two prior bouts were decision victories in the US, so it's not impossible for him to win here. No question that boxing is corrupt in the US, always has been. But you can get off your fox hunting horse...ever hear the term "Brit stoppage"? There is dirty linen across the pond as well.
It's a robbery in regards to scoring 8 rounds to Haney and scoring 10th round for Haney which is criminal. I also can't see 7 rounds to Haney let alone 8, at worst it was a draw for Haney. But all 3 judges scoring it for Haney ? Nah sorry that's BS.
Again I have said previously no country is spotless. But america is taking corruption in boxing to extreme levels in the last ten Years. If Joshua was a american fighting in LV he would be 2-0 against uysk
Another example of why boxing is rotten. Disgraceful decision but the fact that it’s not the worst bad decision in recent years speaks more to the fact that bad decisions are common. This was a bad one because it was a good fight. A draw would not have been fair but more fair than the insane cards. Haney did not win this fight.
I would give a slight edge to Loma or a draw. I am a body punch type of guy, but Loma landed many more clean head shots
