In your opinion, who won the following fights. Please only vote if you have actually seen, and preferably scored, the fights. Poll to follow. ODLH vs. Whitaker (I scored this 116-114 for De La Hoya) ODLH vs. Quartey (I scored this 115-114 for De La Hoya) ODLH vs. Trinidad (I scored this 116-113 for De La Hoya) ODLH vs Sturm (I scored this 116-113 for Sturm) ODLH vs Mosley - 2nd Fight (I scored this 116-112 for De La Hoya)
DLH v Whitaker - too hard to score, very close, no robbery either way. DLH v Quartey - didnt score it but did watch it, same as above, even fight, no robbery. DLH v Trinidad - DLH won a close but clear decision to me. DLH v Sturm - Sturm won clear enough. DLH v Mosely II - DLH won clear.
I had DLH-Whitaker even. Quartey beats DLH, DLH beats Tito, Sturm beats DLH, DLH beats Balco Mosley in the rematch.
I also felt thats what cost him but also felt that was cancelled out by how ponderous & clumsey DLH was made to look at times, ring generalship & defence went in Pernell`s favour & clean punching & effective aggression was something that neither man had any advantage in. That might sound like Im saying Whitaker won but Im not because on a rd by rd basis there was nothing in it, Oscar didnt land anything meaningfull & Pernell just plain never attacked enough.
De La Hoya/Whitaker - De La Hoya De La Hoya/Quartey - De La Hoya De La Hoya/Trinidad - Trinidad De La Hoya/Sturm - De La Hoya (Beleve it or not I did have Oscar winning) De La Hoya/Mosely II - De La Hoya.
Due to Pea giving away the last round, I scored that fight even. I had Quartey beating Oscar by a point. I managed to score the Trinidad fight for Tito - although since he's my favourite fighter, you might want to take that with a pinch of salt. I thought Sturm clearly won. Oscar-Shane had some hard rounds to score. Last time I watched it, I had Oscar winning 116-114.
It wasn't a good performance by Oscar, be he was a lot more consistent than Whitaker. Sweat Pea looked good in bursts, and his efforts in the fight would make a good counter-punching highlight reel for youtube, but his inactivity lost him a few too many rounds, IMO. Like you say, it could have gone either way. Although I firmly believe De La Hoya won by a small margin. I thought the Quartey fight was probably even closer.
How anyone can describe the Trinidad fight as a 'clear loss' for De La Hoya is beyond me. It was anything but.
I agree. Tho the poll is a bit confusing in the Mosley Vs. De La Hoya by not putting a little "II" by it.
