I had pac winning it 114-113 6-6.. He has trouble with counter punchers..he is technically flawed and leaves himself open alot thus why he gets hit with counters easy... Jmm was able to effectively counter on a consistent basis for more than half the fight...the kd costed him the w though..
Pacquiao was the cash cow, and the HBO darling, he would have needed a KO to win the 2nd fight, even if he won every round.
Basing it from watching the first fight and Pacquiao's name having risen from having KO'd Morales twice, I in fact posted before the JMM-Pac rematch that in order for Marquez to get a decision, he would at the very least have to dominate over half the rounds, and clearly win 2 ro 3 others........I also stated that Marquez had a slight chance to win close decision if he won 9 of the 12 rounds. I was right in every aspect, except because Pac scored a knockdown, that was the excuse to tilt the fight to Pacquiao's favor. Clearly just winning rounds is'nt the burden thats required of Marquez vs a name like Pacquiao. To win rounds, he has to thoroughly dominate them, which is not the same burden thats bestowed upon Pacquiao. The reality being just as sad........had Pac not scored a knockdown, even after such a schooliing propinated upon Pacquiao, the scorecards would have turned out to have a decision of a draw.!:
How do you guys score the first fight. I thought Marquez would do it fought well and looked like after the initial knockdowns was going to do enough. But fet Pac won some of the late rounds to just take it. Is another close one and round 9 was a close call. If it wasn't for the three knockdowns which made the difference Marquez would have won but who knows maybe Pac would have taken the fight to him more. Again for Marquez was the drop that cost him. Has been his story of his fights with Pac close but that small margin that makes me gives the score to pac. Many will disagree but again like fight 2 it can be scored in many ways. R1: Pac 10-6 R2: Pac 10-9 R3: JMM 10-9 R4: JMM 10-9 R5: JMM 10-9 R6: JMM 10-9 R7: JMM 10-9 R8: JMM 10-9 R9: Pac 10-9 R10: Pac 10-9 R11: JMM 10-9 R12: Pac 10-9 TOTAL: Pac 114, JMM 113
I think Round 7 is the round that everyone eventually disputes over because it's generally easy to score. The first round is pretty uneventful as well but the 7th makes all the difference. I gave it to Pacquiao today but then rewatched it and realized Marquez landed much bigger punches and rolled away from Pacquiao's flurries. I feel if you can see Marquez controlling the entire round pre-headbutt with a good left hook, uppercut, and right hand, then see him answer Pac's big 1-2 with more effective counters and dodge the left at the bell, then you can give him round 7 and likely give him the fight... 114-112
