huh? You do realize Oscar still outlanded tito in one of those last rounds, 11 or 12 just by throwing his jab. lol Tito was so INEFFECTIVE in the early rounds you could almost give Oscar 10-8 rounds in a couple of them though if you want to play like that.
Lederman used to have some wonky scorecards I tell you. He was usually spot on but seen him fuk a few fights up royally like that one. There were early rounds that were cleary Oscars that he gave to tito.
115-114 De La Hoya. There were closer rounds and it was more competitive than often remembered even before DLH got tired, (Lampley and the crowd would go crazy whenever Oscar threw, even if he missed) but Oscar still won more rounds regardless. Oscar made Tito look pretty horrible, his footwork was just bad. Flatfooted, out of position, catching numerous right hands down the middle. Disappointing fight.
Oscar did such an amazing job the first 9.5 rounds that he earned the right to do whatever he felt he needed to ensure victory in the last couple (although disappointing YES), but OBVIOUSLY the judges were sketchy and were never going to give him that fight. I think Oscar's only chance to win that night was by KO. Didn't matter if he finished the fight strong or not, he was never supposed to win on the cards. King ensured that well ahead of time.
He has Don King and the judges to blame. Since when is giving up 2 rounds subject fortaking the entire fight away from you?
Problem is Oscar was not miles ahead. I scorded 114-114.When a fighter runs like Oscar that is not ring generalship in my view, just a refusal to fight. That attitude may get. penalized on the scorecards even if this does not show in the punch stats.
actually it does because he is"pressing the fight" if he was slipping and turning him and not running it would be different
I had Oscar ahead 8 rounds to 1 after 9. The single worst decision I have seen. Also the best demonstration of Oscar's actual boxing skills.
Then you clearly don't know how to score a fight and you are in the clear minority. De La Hoya was a mile ahead and I was rooting for Tito, I've never like De La Hoya's style. You penalized De La Hoya for not engaging enough despite the fact he threw and landed more punches which means he actually showed more aggression and offensive ability than Tito, he just did it off the back foot. Yet you don't penalize Tito for being unable to cut off the ring or being able to land more punches. People like you mistake moving forward as aggression, you can be aggressive when moving away, creating traps, angles to set up harder shots. You can't just reward perceived aggression and use that to justify Tito winning when his aggression was actually non existent all he did was move forward and get punched for 9-10 rounds.
