I know that you think extremely highly of him. We’ve debated his career many times before. He’s a great fighter. But for me, we’ll never know how great he really was, as he didn’t get the opportunity to prove it.

He was/is a great technician. He’s very well rounded. But just about every fighter has a stylistic nemesis.

He had very close and competitive fights with Jacobs, Derv and Canelo.

Was that because he was past his best and slightly faded at the time?

    Or was that his ceiling?

For example, would a fight against Jacobs have played out like that in 2012?

    We simply don’t know.

All we know, is that he had extremely close and competitive fights against the best guys he fought, with easy wins against lesser fighters.

How would he have fared against an elite level southpaw?

How would he have fared against a fellow ATG prime for prime?

It’s all subjective. But there’s too many unanswered questions for me.

Regarding his style and his attributes, his weaknesses were/are that he has a small reach and he’s easy to hit.

I could never have made him a favourite over prime versions of Roy, Toney, Hopkins and McCallum.

I wouldn't have put money on them beating him either. "Would" is a rather wide word.

Jones, Hopkins and even McCallum would be favoured to beat him. Toney is iffy because he didn't like lower weights.

Toney`s peak weight was at 160, his best win v McCallum was at that weight, Jones would be the only betting favourite v Canelo.

Favoured (in your opinion) does not equate to an overwhelming certainty. I'd have favoured RJJ to beat Tarver. Toney messed up against much worse fighters than GGG. Hopkins "would" beat Jermain Taylor and yet ...

Wasn`t McCallum always the betting underdog in his biggest fights too?

Derevyachenko was bigger than GGG so he could bully him, B-hop didn`t have that kind of strength or style to bully GGG.

What have you been smoking? Sturm is on the level with Martin Murray. Pavlik would be interesting but i would favor GGG. Look at Pavlik vs Rubio then look at GGG vs Rubio to get a perspective.

    I agree Pavlik`s combo`s looked slow and sloppy v Rubio where`s GGG`s combo`s were quicker and sharper.

Sturm, like GGG, made a lot of defenses of their WBA belt and fought a lot of easy opposition. Both had close fights with the cash cow of their generation coming up in weight in which each fighter respectfully thought he won. Sturm however got massive exposure in Germany and made millions on his own, he didn't have to feed off of Oscar's name. He also won a belt in another weight class.... GGG, well... you already know how it goes.

Please, Kofi Jantuah, the African man from Ghana seen cracking jokes in the Mayweather gym with Jeff Mayweather knocked out patches Rubio in 1 round.

Styles make fights mate. I thought the point was at their absolute peak who would win, not looking at their career as a whole. GGG might win but it would be competitive.

Nothing in life is certain. But if they were all at their best, those other guys were more proven.

The majority of fans would have made them favourites, and rightly so.
