Who would give Taylor a tougher fight at 168 in June? Roy Jones Jr. or Lucian Bute?

Roy Jones jr. Speed, experience and ring savvy would be a challenge for jermaine.

both would be fights i would like to watch but bute is the more meaningfull fight.

we have just had 4 or 5 fights around the 168 division that were good fights but historically mean little.

bute v taylor would be a good advertisment for the 168 division/get bute noticed /and perhaps put an american in the spotlight in a division they do poor in.

jones can fight anyone and will get recognition.

If Taylor fights Jones at 170, Lacy at 168 and then Kessler at 168, fair play to him; I wouldn't begrudge him not fighting Bute one bit.

Most people here on ESB want to see him fight Miranda first, and then Lacy. I also think Miranda would give him more of a fight. Lacy is finished, I think. I would give Taylor the most respect if he fought Bute and then Kessler. Afterwards, Miranda and Kessler. Afterwards, Miranda and then Bute. (This could only happen if Bute fought his mandatory in summer, rather than autumn, though)

I know Manfredo, Lacy and Miranda have more of a name than Bute in the USA. Bute has NO name in the USA at all. Dammit, Kessler didn't have a name in the USA before he fought Calzaghe, even though he had fought Andrade! Not even Calzaghe had a name in the USA before Lacy and Manfredo!!!:patsch

If he targets Kessler, that is good stuff, because Kessler is a harder fight for him than Bute.

Oh, btw...Jones fight apparently is in the works for June for Taylor.

I think it MIGHT happen! Hopkins won't fight RJJ after Calzaghe. Woods would fight RJJ after Tarver but there would be much more money in a fight against Taylor, for RJJ.

Also, losing to RJJ would damage Taylor's reputation/legacy less than losing to Woods, because this is the crazy way in which American rankings' systems work.

I wish those who voted for RJJ gave a little explanation to defend their surprising view.

So was I. So are you saying that he no longer has any of these qualities? They may not be what they once were but he still posses enough skill and talent to be a challenge for anyone. Especially Taylor who still has some holes in his game.

Lucian Bute would give Jermain a tougher fight right now. He doesn't go into a defensive shell, lay on the ropes, and fight for only 20 seconds a round. Roy is still faster with one punch, but Bute is much more consistant.

    Taylor beats Jones
    Bute beats Taylor

I agree with this, although I've only had the priviledge to see Bute fight 3 or so times. He was very impressive from what I saw. I will still have to see if Taylor continues with his improvements like he did for the last fight and how 168 really suits him.

Yes, I am. I am saying RJJ is badly faded and a mere shadow of what he once was.
