Who would give Taylor a tougher fight at 168 in June? Roy Jones Jr. or Lucian Bute?

Bute no doubt, Roy does not throw enough punches anymore to bother Taylor too much. Taylor wins a fairly easy UD over Jones now, Bute/Taylor is a 50/50 fight.

Im surprised the voting is so close.

bute clearly is a tougher and more meaningful fight. He is young and dangerous, arguably not at his peak, as dismantled some decent super middles in a good way.

Roy Jones is a shot former great who is there for the taking by anyone who is big enough or young enough.

My agenda with this thread is to show that Bute would give Taylor a harder fight and to drum up support for such a fight. I am doing it not because I want what's best for Taylor, but because I want what's best for Bute. If Bute fought Taylor, he would win and would become known in the USA. This would increase the chance of him making big fights in future. If I were Taylor, though, I would stay away from Bute and Kessler and fight RJJ, Lacy, Green.

I believe Bute beats Taylor and RJJ can only make him look silly at times. People can't make out that Taylor is a top SMW now just because he fought a good fight against the MW champ at a catch-weight above 160... Whole new ball game for Jermain, starts almost from scratch.

If Taylor beats RJJ however, even though it wouldn't mean much in actual rnakings, a win over such a big name would put him back on the spotlight.

Yes...and the circle jerking goes on...

Taylor I respect for fighting the best. He might need a tune-up fight before the likes of Bute or Kessler, but he should make sure he doesn't fall into the trap of only fighting American hype-jobs/have-been NAMES. A one-off fight against RJJ is OK, though, I guess.

Anyone have an argument for the view that RJJ would give Taylor a harder fight than Bute?:think

Either, I bet even Robert Stieglitz starches Taylor.
