Who would give Taylor a tougher fight at 168 in June? Roy Jones Jr. or Lucian Bute?

i think the ball is in butes court to do something to get a big name/payday.

he beat an insignificant paper champ in berrio and now is making a joke of a defense vs a shot joppy.........this is NOT the way to go.

if he wants a big fight vs a big american name..........he first needs to get his name out there.

why doesnt he fight someone like lacy, miranda or sweetness green.

all very beatable fighters...........and all are known!!!!

but instead he beats up on ancient fighters like joppy........and you really expect anyone to care?? you think the general boxing public is looking forward to taylor fighting someone with the profile of bute???

Amazing what a win will do for one's career even if it is vs a past his prime, way over his natural fight weight like Tito. Now, so many people seems to be thinking that Jones Jr is back to the elite level, it's mesmerizing. :huh

 

Miranda was not available. Green refused a championship fight.
I don't know for Lacy, but I'm pretty sure Bute's promoter is not afraid of him. I wouldn't be surprised he also refused a fight against Bute. Bute is the champ. What could be better for Taylor to begin his 168 pound career?

 

I think that there are a few options for Taylor : Jones Jr, Lacy, Miranda, Bute or a gimme fight. After the 2 Pavlik fights, they might want a gimme fight unless they can get a big payday. Because, you don't want to fight a guy like Kessler or Calzaghe coming from two consecutives defeats. Other then that, if Taylor wants a belt, he might face Bute but I don't think that Taylor is in a position where he needs a belt. He will get HBO money, no matter who he fights next.

 

The problem for Bute, as you know, is that he is not a name in the US, so he can't have the big networks interested in his fights. And all those guys, like Green, Miranda, Lacy, won't take a fight with Bute unless they get a big payday, wich is something Interbox can't afford without the help of US networks.

 

You thought Pavlik would starch him in the rematch as well.

 

As of now, I don't think HBO or SHO would be interested by this fight unless it's on the undercard of a bigger fight. And I don't think ESPN brings enough money to the table to make that fight.

 

Decebal...I have a question for you...Who will give Calzaghe a tougher fight right now...Hopkins or Bute ?

Jones is still a threat..more of a threat now than Hopkins was then
